    Re: Rams to workout Patton

    From Walter Football
    Quinton Patton, WR, Louisiana Tech
    Height: 6-0. Weight: 204. Arm: 32 1/4. Hand: 9 1/8.
    40 Time: 4.53.
    Projected Round (2013): 2-4.
3/23/13: The Combine didn't help or hurt Patton's draft stock. He is a competitive football player and that isn't the environment where he will stand out.

Patton played really well in 2012 with 104 receptions for 1,392 yards and 13 touchdowns. He was one of the most impressive wide outs at the Senior Bowl. Patton ran good routes, was getting separation and making difficult contested catches. He was a gamer who battled the defensive backs. Patton really helped himself in Mobile.

8/17/12: Patton, a junior, was very productive in his first season at Louisiana Tech, making 79 receptions for 1,202 yards and 11 touchdowns. Mississippi State cornerback Johnthan Banks, a potential first-round pick, said that Patton was the best receiver he played last year.

Patton played his first two seasons at Coffeyville Community College. He needs another strong season to help his draft status.

I'm a USC fan, but Hunter (physically) reminds me of a young Randy Moss. Hopefully minus the attitude and poor work ethic.

I like hunter too, does he have the attitude problems?

considering robert woods has no attitude or work ethic problems...

they seem* to be two different kinds of receivers though

citr92 you watching the SC pro day? Woods did not try and better his forty, I'm kind of surprised by that.

Looking forward to seeing Matt Barkley throw.

I haven't heard of any issues with Hunter, but that doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any.

Robert Woods is more of a possession receiver, while Hunter looks to be a big play type.

I have to admit that I know very little about Patton. From a size/speed standpoint, he does not appear to be anything special, so I'm presuming his route running, hands, etc. are the appeal.

Guess I'll have to look a bit closer.

When viewing his highlights I came away with a similar feeling, "nothing special".

So I am hoping he's just a smokescreen to keep people off the tails of who we really plan to draft.

    Re: Rams to workout Patton

Patton seems better the more of see of him. Patton defintinatly has that "it" quality or "star" quality that just can't be described...TY Hilton had that same feeling of being a star....

Patton has great hands for someone with speed...I don't think his is an elite "burner" but most say he plays "Z" positon - where Givens plays now....so take that for what it is worth.

We do know that the Fisher Rams only bring it players they are seriously interested in and Patton sure can play, but he is a savvy guy that uses is body and being a good athlete ..

He was always 6ft 2in but I think combine had him close to 6ft even...

He is a player that didn't bench press more than 6 reps I think....He has such great skills, hands and decent speed, I think there is a good possibility the Rams may be think of him as a guy that can play both slot and Z --

He is a guy that can really play...just not sure if he is NFL strong but will compete his heart out

    Re: Rams to workout Patton

It may be his ability to make contested catches that appeals to the Rams. I'm hoping we get that from Brian Quick as well. We're going to need physicality out of our receivers as Seattle and SF has CB's who play press coverage.

    Go Rams!

Mike Mayock adds D.J. Hayden in latest draft prospect rankings
    By Mike Mayock

    Wide Receiver
    1. Cordarrelle Patterson, Tennessee
    2. Keenan Allen, Cal
    3. Tavon Austin, West Virginia
    4. Quinton Patton, Louisiana Tech
    5. DeAndre Hopkins, Clemson

He's fourth on Mike Mayock list and his stock seems to have risen since the Senior Bowl. I'm sure the Rams will bring in all the top WR at some point like they did last year.

Is it possible the Rams don't go WR in round one? Could they pass on Austin and Allen to address other needs?
