Mock v1.4
Rams Additions:- FB Mike Karney
- C Jason Brown
- SS James Butler
Rams retainees:- CB Ron Bartell
- FS OJ Atogwe
Most likely, but not yet retained (will be included in retained for this mock draft)
- DE Victor Adeyanju
- OG Richie Incognito
Rams losses:
- DT La'Roi Glover
- OT Orlando Pace
- WR Torry Holt
- QB Trent Green
Top Needs:
- Middle Linebacker
- Offensive Line
- Wide Receiver
- Defensive Tackle
- Cornerback
Round 1: Aaron Curry, LB, Wake Forest
- Aaron Curry will provide the Rams with a MUCH NEEDED boost on that defense, not only does Curry bring intensity, and top talent on defense, he brings leadership as well. The Rams former leader Corey Chavous was more of a leader in the locker room, where as Curry is a vocal leader on the field as well as the locker room and will earn that respect right away. He'd take our defense another notch up right away, prior to even touching the NFL field.

Round 2: Phil Loadholt, OT, Oklahoma
- Do I need to say much about him? 6'7", closer to 6'8" at 332lbs? He's an absolute wall of destruction, he openly excells in run blocking and can hold up at the point of attack in the passing game. He has ran into minor issues, the recent was in '08 where he was suspicious of driving with an open container. However, he has a very high reward and would fit right into what we're working on for offense, a power running game.

Round 3: Ramses Barden, WR, Cal Poly
- I know many will be turned off by his timed speed, but we already have 3 receivers who have damn good timed speed in Avery, Burton and Stanley. Barden is a receiver who will leap up in the back of the endzone for the pass, go accross the middle, grab a short pass and fight for extra yardage. He's also a good blocker (which we need for our new offense). We don't have a guy like him, he'd be a perfect fit.

Round 4: Terrance Knighton, DT, Temple
- A bigger DT at 6'3" 321lbs who will clog up the lanes and free up our Linebackers, has good upfield rush and shows violent hands, he'll also knock down passes. He'd be a good fit for our Defense, where we're lacking size up front, and could provide Carriker to move into the UT role moreso than the NT roll.

Round 5: Donald Washington, CB, Ohio State

Round 6: Ian Johnson, RB, Boise State

Round 7: Robert Francois, OLB, Boston College

Feel free to hate

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
Very Nice, i like that you are with me on the Barden and Knighton Picks.
Interesting to see donald washington instead of a Qb in the 5th, for once.
People will hate on this because many feel loadholt will only be able to play rt, but i like the pick because we get Curry. I would not be mad at this draft at all, but i feel many here would be.
good job, very out of the box, and also very realistic.

Nice job. You've got the primary needs pretty well covered.

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
Solid mock. I take it you're counting on Barron to emerge as this team's LT of the future though?

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
Yeah, I feel as if Barron will succeed playing Left Tackle, coming out of College, it was his natural position and it was where he was most successful. It'll take a little learning and getting the rust off, but that's where he's built more for.

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
Unlike him i'm not high on Barron
IMO i think we should take Eugene Monroe but Curry's iight
OK Phil Loadholt? I'd rather take a WR like Nicks here and wait till the 3rd to get a guy like Troy Kropog or Gerald Cadogen. because Loadholt makes too many false strats and i just dont like a penelty type guy like Loadholt to be paired with a guy like Barron. However if your high on Barden we should trade this pick down then pick up Merideth.
Ramses Barden (no comment sigh)
Terrance Knighton i use to hate this pick because i wanted a full 330 pounder that was big and fat. But after doing so research Knighton would be the perfect piece to our DL puzzle. Knighton can control blocker and does a very fine job in the run game also he is pretty fast for a big guy. Nice Pick
IMO we should not take a mid-late round CB. We have enough depth at CB. We just dont have that #2 guy yet. Also this is Tye hill's year. It will make or break him. But this pick is good if you dont have faith in Tye Hill (i got alot of faith in Hill)
Ian Johnson is pretty good but we can wait another round and get him there too.
Not too familiar with the other guy.

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
As a Monroe fan I really like this scenario. I'm not a fan of Barron at LT, but i guess he could at least be a 1 year stop gap. I liked all the picks, but the 5th Rounder Donald Washington is a horrific cover man with good measurables

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
Unless we get someone to bit the hook that Jacob Bell is going to play RT, we will take Monroe, if Detroit does not take him.
If we lure someone into a trade and depending on where that is, we will take the best OT available at that point. I love Curry too, but you can say you read it here first, it is not happening.

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
I like the Curry pick.
Loadholt troubles me. When I watched the Texas vs. Oklahoma game, Loadholt was totally destroyed by Orakpo. What will happen when he enters the NFL and faces defensive ends like Richard Seymour?
The Barden pick is good.
Knighton is a fine choice.
Don't like the Washington pick here. He's a below average cornerback IMO, and I think we've got enough nickel and dime back corners.
I think we can get a faster guy than Ian Johnson here.
Really not much talent we can get in the 7th round, so can't say much about the pick here.

Re: RamsFan16's Mock v1.4
I like Rounds 1-4 and 7th.
Round 5 I could see the team wanting to go with a QB like Brandstater. I have mixed fellings on that and would be willing to go another direction. If I went CB I would prefer Domonique Johnson 6'2 200 4.4 40. Otherwise maybe a MLB (Mauga/Joseph) or OT. MLB because if we can develop another MLB Curry could move back outside and it would be one stout LB crew. OT to try developing in case Loadholt don't pan out or Barron leaves.
Round 6 I would rather not take a RB in the draft. I would rather go with Darby, Pittman, and Leonard then draft a low round RB again this year. My preference for round 6 would be a DE (Hunt) or DT (Hill).
Basically round 5 and 6 I am okay with CB and don't want a RB.
With that said I think you did an excellent job and I would be very happy if the draft went as you said.Last edited by RamsSB99; -03-24-2009 at 09:01 PM.
