Re: Rate the 2004 Draft
I voted below average. Three years later and only two players on the team. If it would not be for Jackson it would be an F. Jackson was well worth the trade we made to get him but it did cost us an extra pick. Chillar IMO is average at best and many other teams hit on just as good of players at his position and in some cases better.

Re: Rate the 2004 Draft
I'd give it a A+ just because we got Jackson.

Re: Rate the 2004 Draft
Jackson alone earns a good rating.

Re: Rate the 2004 Draft
i voted average
Jackson was a great pick up, but to only have him and Chillar on the team after only three years is just poor

Re: Rate the 2004 Draft
We got a pair of starters out of it, but I would have to say it's disappointing based purely on the expectations of some going in.
Jackson was seen as a steal........they were right.
Hargrove was seen as a physical freak, but raw and untested...........we got some starts out of him, but he never really panned out.
Chillar was seen as a potential starter, solid, but nothing spectacular........they were right.
Shivers was called (by Mel Kiper) as the biggest steal of the draft........Hair Kiper was wrong.
Smoker.....see Hargrove without the starts."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Rate the 2004 Draft
Sj baby. Face of the franchise and rams on real hope for half a decade week in and out that we could win. For that alone I give it an excellent rating.

Re: Rate the 2004 Draft
Your post is the first post since 2007. Although the trade of our 1st and 4th rounder was good to move up and get Steven Jackson I would still rate the draft as below average because Jackson is the only player we got out of the draft that has done anything noteworthy. Jackson may have been the face of the franchise since he was drafted but we have not had one winning season in the seven seasons since we drafted him. In fact we are 35-77 since we drafted Jackson or a 31% winning percentage. As good as Jackson is he dont make a draft excellent all by himself. Jackson has only had two out of seven seasons where he was able to play every game. Jackson has never been a first team All Pro or a serious contender for MVP. However he has been nominated to three ProBowls.
