Which RB should the Rams acquire (best choice/best bargain)
Which of the following RBs would you want the Rams to sign?
Wait... before you answer...
Consider the price tag in deciding. For the purposes of this poll, assume the following codes apply:
$$$ - Premium FA/Starter's Money (3-4 year deal required)
$$ - Mid-level FA/Price Tag (2-3 year deal w/out clauses)
$ - Low-level FA/Bargain Price (1-2 year deal w/minimal guarantee)
NOTE: Don't argue with the price tags. Assume, for the sake of argument, that the prices are as listed.Last edited by AvengerRam; -05-11-2011 at 12:01 PM.

I went with Sproles.
He is a prototypical "change-of-pace" back, and has low miles for a 27 year old RB.
Welcome to the St. Louis Rams!

I also would target Sproles. I like the spark he can give an offense and the different look he presents to an opposing defense. I was very disappointed the Rams passed on Quizz Rodgers when he was available in the fifth round, but picking up Sproles would help make up for it.

Sproles is a true playmaker, perfect compliment to 39. Dream pick up.

Re: Which RB should the Rams acquire (best choice/best bargain)
Actually voted Jacobs, i like sproles as well but upon further mental thought processes i think adding another bruiser in Jacobs would be beneficial to Jackson to keep him fresher later in the game. Jacobs has about 800 career carries, 1000 less than SJax.
Sproles only has 200 rushes in his career and will provide that nice change of pace, but he will not relieve Jacksons workload in terms of wearing down a defense through quarters 1-3 where the hard work and wear & tear happens, i believe Jacobs will probide that relief by taking about 100-120 hard yard carries off Jackson so he can do what he does best late in the game.
Not to say that Sproles doesnt bring anything to the table (he would had a spectacular "danger Will Robinson" element) but one thing he cant do is wear down a defense.
Dream scenario, drop totson and darby. sign jacob and sproles.

Re: Which RB should the Rams acquire (best choice/best bargain)
Since i cannot argue the price tag i chose Ricky Williams because we are NOT giving our #2 free agent RB more than 1 guaranteed year. Which lead me with only Williams, Harrison, and Hightower and i chose Williams as the best RB out of the group.
As much sense sproles makes i doubt we should give him 2 years. We need to see how much production we get out of Jackson when you reduce his rushing attempt workload. I believe he will have more receiving opportunity and less up the middle poundings with McD calling the plays.
I believe Bush is the best fit followed by Addai then bradshaw followed by Sproles

Re: Which RB should the Rams acquire (best choice/best bargain)
Interesting note here
Deangelo Williams 28
Darren Sproles 28
Ahmad Bradshaw 25
Brandon Jacobs 29
Reggie Bush 26
Tim Hightower 25
Jerome Harrison 28
Cedrick Benson 29
Ronnie Brown 30
Ricky Williams 34
Pierre Thomas 27
Joseph Addai 28
Only 4 players (one by only a year) are younger than Jackson (28) on that list.
I voted for Sproles but I think I would like to change it to Bush if I had the chance. I didnt know sproles had that many years on him.

Tim Hightower for the cost....but I really think we should go after Locke from Kentucky that went undrafted....or other undrafted FA -- so we have some youth and some that stays for years to come

Re: Which RB should the Rams acquire (best choice/best bargain)
There is the money factor, as I have heard the Bush values himself highly. I would love to see us spend some money in FA, and grabbing a guy like Bush would make a statement about how serious we are about building a great team. I voted for Sproles however, because he would be a great compliment to SJax.
A defeated look of consternation, dissappointment, or even pain. The name derives from the look one often gets when challenged by a large BM.

Re: Which RB should the Rams acquire (best choice/best bargain)
But has sproles really proved himself? He has 249 carries in his career for less than 1200 yards. Jackson has only two years were he has rushed for less than 249 in a year. Sproles has more receiving yards than rushing so Idk if this guy is the right option.
Looking at bushes numbers he isn't that impressive either. So he may not be a good option either for the money at least. We need a homerun hitter bush averages 4 ypc.
