Ah no wonder. I was like, Jeffery looks like a fullback.

I would have no problem getting any of these three receivers, but everytime I watch these three play, I'm most impressed with Jeffery.

Stats don't mean anything. I don't think you've watched much of Blackmon other than youtube highlights.

I have watched a couple of games of him outside of the highlights I've watched. I like him overall and after watching some games with Floyd I like him alot alot more! Haven't really seen much of Jefferey to be honest.
Stats do mean something... as they do indicate you are a productive player even when a higher level of competition doesn't effect your production. I agree they dont' always tell the tale but are a dam good marker.

Watched Blackmon play A&M in person, and I can't say I was stunned by his performance. We don't have the best secondary, but he didn't make any explosive plays. There were a couple solid catch and runs, but most of his stats were made by quick slants and screen plays. I don't know if this is what OSU normally does on offense, but if most of his stats are made with those types of plays, I'd be put off.

Wait wait wait.... if you read the other opposition of Blackmon is all he does in run 9 routes or fly's or post routes and he is ONLY a deep threat... you mean he runs other routes besides those two? I"M SHOCKED!!! Seems like everyone who is opposed to Blackmon can't come up with any accurate negative things about him outside A. he got a DWI B. He is a bit of a showboat and/or a diva WR which I'll give you. he sure as hell can play tho!!! I'd take him anyday over someone who has 3 D dubs and another guy who doesnt know how to workout in the off season.

Re: Which Receiver Would You Want...

Well i guess i might as well post there stats thus far this season:

    1. Justin Blackmon*
Experience: Junior (RS) | School: Oklahoma State
    Height: 6-1 | Weight: 215 lbs.

Last Game at Texas A&M (9/24):
11 Receptions, 121 Receiving Yards (11.0 YPC), TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    38 Receptions, 450 Receiving Yards (11.8 YPC), 4 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    111 Receptions, 1,782 Receiving Yards (16.1 YPC), 20 TD

    2. Michael Floyd
Experience: Senior | School: Notre Dame
    Height: 6-3 | Weight: 224 lbs.

    Last Game at Purdue (10/1):
12 Receptions, 137 Receiving Yards (11.4 YPC), TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    47 Receptions, 561 Receiving Yards (11.9 YPC), 3 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    79 Receptions, 1,025 Receiving Yards (13.0 YPC), 12 TD

    3. Alshon Jeffery*
Experience: Junior | School: South Carolina
    Height: 6-4 | Weight: 229 lbs.

    Last Game vs. Auburn (10/1):
5 Receptions, 86 Receiving Yards (17.2 YPC), TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    19 Receptions, 332 Receiving Yards (17.5 YPC), 2 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    88 Receptions, 1,517 Receiving Yards (17.2 YPC), 9 TD

So far this year, Floyd is leading in receptions and yards, Blackmon is leading with td's, and Jeffery has the best YPC. it may also be note worthy to mention that Jeffery was the only one in the group to have a truly bad qb leading the offense who was pulled in the last game and pretty sure hes no longer the starter.

Yes notre dame doesnt have the best of qb's and they have gotten switched at times but there still much better then what jeffery had to work with.

Blackmon has the best QB in group with Weeden and OSU's high octane offense.

And now one last thing, possible wr's we could take in round 2

    4. Nick Toon
Experience: Senior (RS) | School: Wisconsin
    Height: 6-3 | Weight: 220 lbs.

    Last Game vs. Nebraska (10/1):
4 Receptions, 94 Receiving Yards (23.5 YPC), TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    25 Receptions, 447 Receiving Yards (17.9 YPC), 6 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    36 Receptions, 459 Receiving Yards (12.8 YPC), 3 TD

Looks like that new qb wisconsin has is really workin out for them, and Toon seems to finally be having his breakout year. does anyone have any info on Toon? maybe a possible 2nd rounder to get after we get our pure stud in round 1.

    5. Jeff Fuller
Experience: Senior | School: Texas A&M
    Height: 6-4 | Weight: 220 lbs.

    Last Game at Arkansas (10/1):
    9 Receptions, 82 Receiving Yards (9.1 YPC)

    2011 Season Stats:
    26 Receptions, 268 Receiving Yards (10.3 YPC), 2 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    72 Receptions, 1,066 Receiving Yards (14.8 YPC), 12 TD

    6. Mohamed Sanu*
    Experience: Junior | School: Rutgers
    Height: 6-2 | Weight: 215 lbs.

    Last Game at Syracuse (10/1):
7 Receptions, 65 Receiving Yards (9.3 YPC), TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    43 Receptions, 428 Receiving Yards (10.0 YPC), 5 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    44 Receptions, 418 Receiving Yards (9.5 YPC), 2 TD

    7. Ryan Broyles
Experience: Senior (RS) | School: Oklahoma
    Height: 5-10 | Weight: 188 lbs.

Last Game vs. Ball State (10/1):
    4 Receptions, 109 Receiving Yards (27.3 YPC), 2 TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    36 Receptions, 476 Receiving Yards (13.2 YPC), 6 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    131 Receptions, 1,622 Receiving Yards (12.4 YPC), 14 TD

    8. Dwight Jones
Experience: Senior | School: North Carolina
    Height: 6-4 | Weight: 225 lbs.

Last Game at East Carolina (10/1):
    6 Receptions, 93 Receiving Yards (15.5 YPC), 2 TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    33 Receptions, 514 Receiving Yards (15.6 YPC), 6 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    62 Receptions, 946 Receiving Yards (15.3 YPC), 4 TD

    9. Juron Criner
    Experience: Senior | School: Arizona
    Height: 6-4 | Weight: 215 lbs.

    Last Game at USC (10/1):
3 Receptions, 29 Receiving Yards (9.7 YPC), TD

    2011 Season Stats:
    24 Receptions, 324 Receiving Yards (13.5 YPC), 3 TD

    2010 Season Stats:
    82 Receptions, 1,233 Receiving Yards (15.0 YPC), 11 TD

Again, I don't agree with this at all. Talked about it earlier, in fact.

Yeah, I don't find much consistency in the arguments for a number of the prospects yet. Maybe things will start to shore up and solidify as we see more of them this year and have a larger sample to judge from. That being said, all these guys have legitimate pros and cons, so there's no need to invent them.

For what it's worth, I'd add that Blackmon has only played four games, while Floyd and Jeffery have played five. Blackmon is actually averaging slightly better numbers for receptions per game and yards per game than both the other receivers, though Floyd is right there with him statistically (Blackmon's 9.5 rpg & 112.5 ypg vs. Floyd's 9.4 rpg & 112.2 ypg respectively).

As for some of the others, Toon is having a solid season and doesn't have a problem finding the end zone, but I want to see if he can stay healthy through the rest of the year. I don't think Fuller has had the kind of start to the season that many were hoping for. I think Sanu would benefit from another year in college, and I'm not sure Broyles fits the profile we're looking for. I'm intrigued by Dwight Jones as a later option but I haven't had the chance to watch him as much as I'd like.

Re: Which Receiver Would You Want...

Blackmon is averaging better stats, but I'm curious if it's due to the system he plays in. OSU receivers tend to have big stats (Dez Bryant). There's no doubt that the kid is very talented, but I wonder if his stats are inflated because of the offense OSU runs.

From what I've seen of him this year, I am not impressed at all.

Re: Which Receiver Would You Want...

Thought this would be cool for the little debate ya'll got going on.

I initially voted for Jeffery just based on pure measurables and a few youtube videos I watched. After watching this Sports Science, Blackmon looks like a freak. I think so long as we get either, we will be very, very happy. But I love the part where he says a target can be created as big as a two car garage. Imagine that compared to what Sam has now...

Re: Which Receiver Would You Want...

This video just proves Blackmon sucks! His stats are inflated, hey only runs quick screens and slants... wait 9 routes and post routes, his stats mean nothing, he has below average hands, can't out muscle ET phone home, not a top tier NFl WR, he's not big 6'1 so he can't cover the size of a two car garage, He's a panty toting Diva, no top end speed, he runs only OK routes, over rated, falls away 3 games and comes back and has a huge game like Desean Jackson, questionable hands to he never catches balls!, NFL he will disappear, screams at officals. Total trash to say the least!
