Redskins Pick Will Continue To Create Intrigue Into the Offseason

Right now, its the Redskins watch... We check the scores of every game they play, as well as the scores of the other teams at the bottom of the league. Right now, the odds are that the Rams will acquire a pick in the Top 5. It is, in fact, very possible that the Rams could have the first pick in the draft.

The next thing we'll be watching is the list of underclassmen declaring for the draft. In particular, the Rams will be very interested in the number of QBs who declare (most of the top prospects are underclassmen - Derek Carr is generally viewed as the top Senior). For example, if the Rams end up with the third pick, the would want there to be at between 2-3 top QBs who declare for the draft. If only one declares, the top guys could be gone before the Rams pick, making their selection less valuable in the trade market. On the other hand, if the market is flooded, teams may prefer to wait, rather than trading up, to select a QB.

However these issues play out, I think its safe to say that the Rams will be worth watching as the trade market heats up. Remember, the Rams under Les Snead have yet to make a first round selection from their original position.

    Stay tuned.

The Redskins currently have the 2nd worse record in the NFL (after the Texans) so it's looking more and more like we'll have a top-5 pick. Their remaining games are:

    KC Chiefs
    @ Atlanta
    Dallas
    @ Giants

I honestly see them losing all four games so they should at least hold on tho the 2nd pick. Houston's remaining games are:

    @ JAX
    @Indy
    Denver
    @ Tennessee

They'll most likely get blown out by both the Colts and Denver, but the Jaguar and Titan games can go either way. Hopefully they lose to the Jags (moving JAX to 4 wins) and beat the Titans lol

Here are a few scenarios if we ended up with the second pick.

Trade back like we did in 2010 but instead of using all the picks package some of them together and move back into the first round and have three first round picks this year. Say 14th, 16th and 29th. That way we get the cream of the crop.

Trade back from the second pick to the forth spot, still get Jake and add another second round pick and a third. That would be sweet.

Trade the RG3 pick for two first rounds picks 2015 and 2016 and a second this year.

That is the scenario I like best because it spreads the wealth out over multiple years and ensures that we are not forced to make all the picks in 1 year when our needs will change over time. This could go into the draft annals as the best deal ever made. I'm referring to the original RGIII trade.

    Go Rams!

One of the top QBs apparently won't be in the mix... Marcus Mariota has announced he is returning to Oregon next year.

Dream Scenario: we have pick 1 or 2. Trade back ever so slightly to the team that wants Clowney the most (Maybe Tampa(3) or Atlanta(4)), acquire some picks (much like Minny did with the Browns) and still be able to select Matthews. We could potentially get Atlanta and Tampa into a bidding war if they both really want Clowney.

Very unlikely to happen, but just another crazy scenario we already get to ponder.

That would be an unbelieveable chain of events, and I'm sure some sort of NFL record for most consecutive years with multiple 1st round picks.

Re: Redskins Pick Will Continue To Create Intrigue Into the Offseason

Actually Mariotta not being in the mix could be very good for the Rams if we have a very high pick - all of a sudden the elite guys just got that much more costly for a trade. I'd say we'd have to be top 3 to really get the advantage there, but that's definitely possible.

If we luck out the rest of the way and get #1....
