Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
Per rotoworld:

Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald suggests LT Jake Long as a trade candidate this offseason.
Salguero isn't reporting here, he's simply saying a trade might make sense. Long will make $11.2 million in 2012, the final year of his contract. He's been injured and played at well below his normal Pro Bowl levels throughout this season. If the Dolphins aren't going to re-sign Long, they could use him as a chip to move up in the draft. A franchise quarterback figures to be a top priority for Miami come April.
The good news keeps on rolling.... Ok Miami, we will give you the 1.1 or the 1.2 for Long, your first round pick, and your second round pick.
Sound good?
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
I'd love the deal. We trade back some spots, re-structure and trade for Jake Long, and grab their 1,2 and next years 2 and 3.
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
I think we'd all love this. We could possibly get Long and Jeffrey(maybe even Blackmon if he falls) and pick up an extra pick or two this year or next.
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
just dont see the phins doing that trade...If they trade up that high it will be for Luck and basically there trading the guy who will keep luck upright for him which doesnt make much sense...I doubt Long is going anywhere next to joe Thomas he is the best LT in the game
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
This is only a suggestion, its nothing more than that.?
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
Maybe Brandon Marshall and their 1 and 2 pick would be awesome.;)
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
This doesn't make sense.
So let's think this through. The Dolphins are basically trading away their one good(and most important) offensive lineman to draft a QB who will be provided no protection?
HUH?

I did some investigating and he has a back and (very bad) bicep problem along with an inflated contract. Many people in Miami think the torn bicep will take 5 months to heal and could be serious since he is due over 11 million this upcoming year, and a free agent thereafter.
He has been great, but probably won't take a smaller contract.
He could be a great teacher on our young line, but he is definitely a risk for any team....hard to see Miami not keep him for this last year because of their QB woes....
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
I hear a lot of talk about the Rams being able to trade the #2 pick for a lot in return. The thought being Luck and RG3 are the two sure fire qbs (now that Barkley opted out); and there are 3 teams vying for a QB- Miami, Cleveland, Washington.
And while I'd love for this to happen I think there may be a couple stumbling blocks. Matt Flynn's big week caused his stock to skyrocket, and I think one of these teams will take a flyer on him. Which is okay cause that leaves two teams to bid for the spot; except....
Talk is now that the Colts may trade Manning, I don't think he's a god fit for any of the teams mentioned, but if he goes one of these places then the trade war is done for.
Re: Report: Dolphins Plan to use Long as trade bait
I gotta be honest, I just want Blackmon any way possible, so 4 is the latest Id want us trading down; pending us being offered washington/miamis house.
