Report: Giants could be willing to shop Osi

    Per rotoworld:

The Giants will reportedly be willing to shop Osi Umenyiora on draft day if they select Jason Pierre-Paul with the 15th overall pick.
Umenyiora "can be had for the right price," according to Mike Lombardi of the National Football Post. Though Umenyiora is coming off a poor season, he is due manageable money over the life of his contract and could probably use a change of scenery. He may also be available for as little as a mid-round pick.

    Bring your boy home Spags.

What is a "mid round pick"?

That could be anything from a 2nd-6th rounder.

    Bradford
    Demyrius Thomas
    Sean Lee
    Osi
    Scheffler

That sounds mighty nice to start the draft.

Pull some strings! Get this beast in here! Our 4th rounder is practically a 3rd anyways. Give it up!

Come on Rams, its about time we jump into the action of trading mid round picks for established players, ie santonio holmes, kerry rhodes, antonio cromartie, and anquan boldin.

Osi would make our whole defense better, and I have no doubt Spags can get him back to that 10+ sacks/ year level of play.

It makes too much sense not to pull the trigger!

Just browsing the web for Osi Rams rumors and came across these tweets from two days ago on Chris Mortensons twitter:

On The Mort Report on ESPN Radio, I mentioned 3 teams for possible Giants' Osi Umenyiora trade: Dolphins, Rams & Panthers

RT @tpw8791: @mortreport gints fan, what odds u put on osi trade? >> 60-40 he's traded, maybe higher

    BRING HIM HERE!

I predicted last season as soon as Osi was dropped from the starting 4 that he would become a Ram this year! I still believe that. He bought into Spags system perfectly with the Gnats. Spags was able to generate his most productive play during his career. I think he would fill out our D line nicely.

I'm trying to read through these posts for something that's not just someone thinking out loud of what could happen in their madden franchise.

Come on folks, these are just random thoughts written down on the internet, based on absolutely nothing, with no facts mentioned at all. Let's all take a deep breath and relax...

Osi had knee surgery after the '08 season. He may not be the player that he was under Spags. Like Pierce, he may be broken. No one will know better than Spags so I'll trust his judgment on this one.

If this opportunity presents itself, there is no way we can pass.

There has been talk about moving Osi since his demotion. He feuded with the Spags replacement at DC, who has since be replaced. Osi also had a very off year. Part of that may be deteriorating skills, not 100% from the injury and lack of help elsewhere on the D. He was very soft against the run in 2009. I would not be surprised if he's moved. It's a where there's smoke there's fire thing. When a guy this high profile is mentioned in trade talks there is usually something behind it or the team would be denying it up and down in the press.

Is this trade talk for Scheffler annoying anyone else but me?

I was hoping at the end of the season when it came out that Osi was unhappy we'd make a play or at least inquire about moving him over. Now it looks quasi realistic. This would be amazing for this team. Get a top flight RDE and move Long to LDE too, can't even begin to imagine how much better our D would look.

Re: Report: Giants could be willing to shop Osi

I hate to keep repeating myself, but the odds of us taking on a guy at a high salary, regardless of the cost in picks, are not good, given the uncertainty of the ownership situation. If his salary is relatively cheap because the bulk of the money was already paid in an upfront bonus, we might have a shot, but is he really much better than leonard little at this point?
