Report: Rams will give free agent Poppinga a look
Former Green Bay Packers LB Brady Poppinga is on his way to St. Louis for a visit with the Rams on Sunday, according to a league source.
The Rams have been shrewd in the free-agent market thus far, agreeing to terms with veterans DT Justin Bannan, S Quintin Mikell (formerly of the Eagles), WR Mike Sims-Walker (Jaguars) and G Harvey Dahl (Falcons), and now will give a look to Poppinga, who missed 10 games last season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
Poppinga, due $2.34 million next season as a backup, was released by the Packers on Thursday.
Campbody I guess

...eh.... . others I would preffer

I think were playiong the cash in on an injury guy thing too much
Re: Report: Rams will give free agent Poppinga a look
Probably being looked at as depth behind Diggs at strong-side linebacker. Unless they think he can compete with Diggs at the position, at which case that says something about Diggs. Because at this point, I don't think Poppinga is a starting-caliber player in the league.
Re: Report: Rams will give free agent Poppinga a look
I think with a starting LB corp of Diggs, Laurinaitis and Diles I'd like to see recent draft picks Chamberlain, Vobora, Hull, Jabara Williams make up the depth, I'd rather pass on a 32 year-old journey man.

He should be a depth guy.? He is better than what we have at the moment, backing up the three starters.
I do not mind the move. These players coming back from injury is are best chance of getting a decent player on the cheap.!

I heard on the Post Dispatch forum that we signed him.

He should be a depth guy, as in not a starter, IMO. I wouldn't take him over Diles or Diggs, unless Diggs has declined after his injury and we just haven't heard much about it. But it's hard for me to imagine there aren't younger, healthier, better options out there than Poppinga.
