The Rockin Tribute. (Last mock draft)

Well, this is it. Two more days before the draft. We've all been waiting anxiously for the day to come, and now it's in touching distance. Whoever is picked, I will support fully, and hope they turn out well.

I'm going to keep the mock short for time concerns.

Trade: Alex Barron to Buffalo in return for their 4th round pick.

    Round 1: Sam Bradford (QB)

    Round 2: Damian Williams (WR)

    Fits our scheme perfectly.

    -Great route runner

    -Great hands

    -Shifty, elusive, and quick

    -Smart, can read coverage

    -Great work ethic

    Round 3: Austen Lane (DE)

    -Great upside

    -Good work ethic

    -Is ferocious

    -Great pass rusher

-Dominates with quickness and strength and long wingspan

    Round 4: Jimmy Graham (TE)

    -Big target for Bradford

    -Athletic and fast

    -Amazing upside

    Round 4: Kyle Calloway (OT)

    -Blue collar tackle

    -Great technician

-Sound pass protector and run blocker

    -Good footwork and wingspan

    Round 5: Donovan Warren (CB/S)

    -Day 3 Steal

-Previously ranked as first-second round pick

-Stock dropped because of 40 time

-Very physical corner, will help in run support

    -Great upside

    -Great footwork

-Can play one-on-one against any WR

    Round 5: Myron Lewis (CB/S)

    -Physical corner

    -Will help in run support

-Can be an elite press corner

    -Good intelligence

-Has the ability to jam bigger WRs

    Round 6: Brandon Sharpe (DE/LB)

    -Very versatile pass rush specialist

-Works on slower OTs with his quickness and agility

-Can give Spags the option to create different schemes and blitz packages

    Round 7: Greg Middleton (DE)

    -IMO, this is a steal

-2 years ago, was considered a future elite player due to his 16 sacks as a sophomore

    -Was a phenom, before deteriorating

-Production dropped for the past two years

    -Has premier strength

-Has a wide range of pass rush moves

    Round 7: Michael Greco (S)

    -Great upside

-Will provide good depth and good special teams contributor

    Round 7: O'Brien Schofield (DE/LB)

    -Huge intensity player

-Great steal for us, was a former 2nd-3rd round prospect before injury at Senior Bowl

-Is a sack machine, much like Brandon Sharpe

-O'Brien Schofield, Brandon Sharpe, Greg Middleton, Austen Lane, Chris

-Long, and Fred Robbins should give Spags excellent variety to plan different schemes and blitzes and more exotic plays to put pressure on opposing offenses.

    In review:

We obtain our franchise QB, who has elite accuracy and intangibles.

We give him two big time targets to throw to.

We fill our need at RT with a technically sound blocker.

We obtain 3 high upside secondary players.

We obtain a good addition of sack artists who specialize in getting to the passer. Spags and Flajole should be drooling when thinking of the possibilities of exotic blitzes and schemes and looks. These guys can create mismatches, and will terrorize opposing defenses.

Re: The Rockin Tribute. (Last mock draft)

    good job!
plenty of players i`m high on..i like Damian Williams a lot..maybe we could trade down a few spots and still get him...unless Gresham is there or McCoy if we draft Suh..then i fully expect a trade down with that pick because i believe plenty of teams will be high on other prospects that will undoubtedly fall due to it being such a deep draft class..

i`d be pretty pleased with every pick in this mock if they fell that way ...i would like to see Edds instead of one of those 5th round DB`s..and perhaps swap 1 DT for 1 of those 4 DE `s..but can`t fault the value of the picks made.

i suppose we could always make a trade for a DT after the draft..but even if not..it`s probably too much to expect every hole to be filled with a long term solution in one off-season.

    overall i like it a lot..well done.

    No, no, no, no, no!
We only have so many spots open for DE's and CB/S's...goodness at this rate half of our draft class will be cut. And what our needs at OLB & RB?

    Half our draft class? Huh?

First, we have many open spots at DE. Chris Long is the only long term DE we have.

Second, Myron Lewis and Donovan Warren are huge improvements over Quincy Butler and Justin King. In fact, I would think our CB corps would go: Bartell, Warren, Fletcher, Lewis, King.

Third, Sharpe and Schofield can play OLB. Depends on who can make the better transition.

Fourth, I value a pass rush specialist a lot higher than a back-up RB. Plus, we have Chris Ogby and Kenneth Darby.

    Thanks for the input.

It might be just me, but I'm not too worried about our current DTs. I would love to get a young, penetrating DT, but I'm fine with this corps for now.

On run downs, I think Fred Robbins and Clifton Ryan should man the middle just fine. They are both strong, flat blobs who should command double teams.

On passing downs, I think Spags might continue to move Chris Long and James Hall inside, and putting Austen Lane, and either Schofield or Sharpe in at the other DE, and the other one is a LB flanker who blitzes.

    So many possibilities.

Also, I would love to get Gresham, but I just don't think he's going to be there.

I'd rather have Demayrius Thomas over Damian Williams because he is a different WR than what we have.

I like all the other picks though, I would have preferred more true LB's than tweeners, but I can't complain if this happened, we got value all the way through the draft.

    no, I don't like picking 4 DE's, and 3 or 4 (don't feel like counting) S/CB's, sorry.

I'm not a big fan of Thomas. Why?

He's not that great of a runner, and is very raw. He's not very consistent either. I just don't warrant spending a high 2nd round pick on him. Williams on the other hand, is a polished WR who runs great routes, and is a smart WR that understands and exploits coverage.

Actually, when I look at Thomas, I see a mid first rounder who is on the cheep because of a broken foot. I see a guy who reportedly runs in the 4.3-4.4 range when healthy. I see a big, strong receiver with dominant leaping abilities. I see a somewhat raw prospect with Brandon Marshall level upside. I see a guy who if he gets coached up on routes could be a top WR in the game.

Williams, I'm not sure about, he could be Torry Holt, he could be Dwanye Jarrett.

Re: The Rockin Tribute. (Last mock draft)

If Barron would get a 4th, he'd have been traded by now. No offense but I am really growing weary of the thoughts that the players on this team that we aren't too fond of have any trade value and that we can just ship them away and *poof* we get an extra fourth rounder. If you don't believe me see the Ernie Sims trade or the Carriker trade.

Otherwise you're mock seems just fine, I don't mean to raise the obligatory objection here, you obviously know what you're doing (you could probably spread out the needs as has already been said, but whatever its all for fun)

... but still you don't go out and get 4.......... it's like having a car that broke down, you get a new one maybe 2 to see which one runs better, you don't go out and buy 4.

Re: The Rockin Tribute. (Last mock draft)

One thing about Barron to the Bills, its not as absurd as it sounds. Look up Buddy Nix's draft history. In his 8 years in San Diego, he never drafted an O lineman in the first round, and he was a trading machine. Buffalo has obvious needs at QB, NT, WR, they have Lynch on the trade block and Gailey has made it known that he would love to draft a "waterbug" type RB (which makes me wonder if they are possibly targeting CJ Spiller at #9). They could very possibly pass on drafting an OT in the first 3 rounds, at which case a savvy draft-time trader like Nix may see Barron as being a more attractive option than any of the OT options available. Not saying its guaranteed or even likely, but I definitely would not rule it out.

That being said, I like this draft. I would prefer to find an OLB prospect sooner than round 6, but that is probably nit picking. We have more needs than draft picks. Nice work RockinRam!

    1) Not true my friend, first let's address the DE's on our depth chart:
    Victor Adeyanju
    C.J. Ah You
    Sean Conover
    James Hall
    Chris Long
    James Wyche

-3-4 of those guys more than likely are locks to make the team, there is no way we draft that many DE's & there is no proof that Sharpe & Schofield can play OLB, that is mere speculation. We don't know if they have that skill set (especiallly to cover out backs & TE's).

    2) Based on our potential need at safety, I can see us drafting both a CB and a safety but only if we let go of O.J. But we should keep in mind that CB is a hard position to translate to at the next level so we can't say that these guys would be a "huge improvement" over what we have now, they'll probally make a bigger splash in year two & that also depends on a DB's best friend when is a good & consistent pass rush.

    3) Neither of our back-up running backs provided a consistent punch last year, and Darby is best suited to be a 3rd down back. We still need a solid #2 guy especially due to "The Beast" running style which has alot to do with his tendency to get injured.

    4) D. Williams in the 2nd round.....over Benn, Thomas, and Briscoe (who should all be on the board when we draft in Rd. 2)....man that is crazy! We need a possession recieve not another speed guy, sorry gotta pass on Williams, those USC recievers are usually horrible in the NFL.
