Which Round 1/FA "Trifecta" Do You Like the Best?

From the list provided in the poll, which "Trifecta" (picks 2, 13; FA aquisition) would be your dream scenario?

Funny we picked the same one... with that said I actually would love Lewan, Evans & Ward most but not a choice. I really like Gilbert and Matthews but if it was the choice or the ones I named I would be jumping for joy! Thanks for the choices AvR!

How did I know that someone would respond with a comment like this?

Here's the point of the exercise...

The poll feature has a maximum of 12 choices. That means, that I could only list a tiny fraction of all the possible combinations.

Anyone could respond with "my perfect trifecta would be ___________."

That's not the point. If it was, I would have simply posted an open question, rather than a poll.

The point is to make the best choice among the options that present themselves (as opposed to your absolute first choice from all the possible combinations) - MUCH LIKE NFL TEAMS HAVE TO DO.

In other words - please stay within the menu.

    I went with
    J.Matthews/J.Gilbert/J.Asamoah.

OT and a CB that can step in and contribute from day 1 along with what will likely be a reasonably priced G upgrade.

Hakeem Nicks would be a phenomenal pick up IMO and coupled with a top 2 S and OT makes Matthews/Pryor/Nicks my choice

    Interesting responses so far.

    I went with Watkins/Lewan/T.J.Ward

This is somewhat contrary to my draft board (which has Matthews and Robinson at the top), but I would go with Watkins at No. 2 if I was confident that I could then get Lewan at No. 13, and the safety position is already filled with a guy like Ward.

    Avenger,

Whew!!! This might be the toughest poll you have ever posted. After much cogitation and rumination and several Excedrin I went with.....

    Watkins, Martin and Byrd.

I think what sold me on that trifecta is the fact we are getting a legit play maker in Byrd and a potential play maker in Watkins. And, Martin will start somewhere so he is in the mix also.

Well, that's my reasoning process for now....all subject to change of course!!

    WHAT SAY YE?

I really wish this was a la carte, but if I had to choose I'd go with the Watkins/Lewan/Ward trioÖ pretty much fills our three biggest needs in one offseason

I went with Watkins, Martin, Byrd. My 2nd choice was Robinson, Donald, Byrd. Kept going back and forth. An awesome receiver, very good OT, and and an amazing FS, or a Potentially brutalizing OT, a wildman of a DT and again an amazing FS. Grrr, still going back and forth!! Oh that is hard!

You're preaching to the choir, turbofargo. I, too, went back and forth like a proverbial windshield wiper blade in a monsoon.

Couldn't make my mind up but finally settled on Watkins, Martin and Byrd. I like the play making potential of Watkins and Byrd and Martin kinda fills the Saffold role of being able to play guard or tackle.

At any rate that is my story and I'm sticking to it.....

Re: Which Round 1/FA "Trifecta" Do You Like the Best?

Well, I went Matthews / Pryor / Nicks but it was like throwing a selecting dart blindly at the poll board.

FWIW, just saw the following from SI.com NFL Fansided...

NFL Rumors: Chicago Bears to target signing TJ Ward, Jairus Byrd in free agency
By Josh Hill / March 04

One of the best players on the Cleveland Browns roster may not be a member of the Browns for much longer. While the team transitions into a new era (for now) with head coach Mike Pettine, the free agent market is welcoming the Browns best player in T.J. Ward and the speculation about where he’ll go is already mounting.

Ward will join Buffalo Bills safety Jairus Byrd as the top two players at their position on the open market, and one team has eyes set on both of them. According to Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bears will be looking at signing either Ward or Byrd if they come at the right price.

The Bears could turn to Ward or Byrd, probably in that order, if the price fits their defensive overhaul. The Bears have not spoken with free agent Louis Delmas (formerly of the Lions), a team source said.
Chicago is in desperate need of some safety help, and Roman Harper’s name has been floated as well. With Delmas out of the running, it appears that the Bears will likely land either Bryd, Harper or Ward in free agency and their defense will be much better for it.

    Ward and Byrd: - -

I went with Greg Robinson/Aaron Donald/Jairus Byrd. That's 3 players that are/can be superstars. Donald is going to be one of the best DT's in the league, I've been banging the table for him for a while. G-Rob is superb too. Byrd being one of the best FS's in the league would put this defense on the next level too.

Now that I think about it this would probably be my first choice too, throw in Saffold re-signing and this would be the perfect offseason in my eyes
