Round 2 Checklist
The real intrigue on Saturday will be waiting for the Rams' second selection. Here is the list of players I will be watching for the Rams' second pick (contingent, of course, on who the Rams take at pick No. 2).
I'll be checking these players off as they are selected and crossing my fingers that at least one of them will be there when the Rams make their second choice.
Barwin, Connor (DE/OLB) Cincinnati
Beatty, William (OT) Connecticut
Brace, Ron (DT) Boston College
Britt, Kenny (WR) Rutgers
Butler, Darrius (CB) Connecticut
English, Larry (DE/OLB) Northern Illinois
Hood, Evander (DT) Missouri
Kropog, Troy (OT) Tulane
Laurinaitis, James (LB) Ohio State
Meredith, Jamon (OT) South Carolina
Nick, Hakeem (WR) North Carolina
Robiskie, Brian (WR) Ohio State
Sidbury, Lawrence (DE/OLB) Richmond
Sintim, Clint (LB) Virginia
I'm betting that one of those players will be a Ram by the end of the day on Saturday.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
I don't see any chance that the Rams would take a RB in Round 2.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
What about Phil Loadholt? I think he's a prototype RT, which if Barron's going left side, he'll make a perfect compliment to him. He should also be there as maybe the top tackle left at #35.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
I don't think Loadholt is a "four pillars" kind of guy, from what I've read.
Of course, if the Rams take an OT with the #2 pick, all the OTs on the list will be scratched off.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
This list is only Round 2 prospects. I didn't say that the Rams could not take an OT in Round 1 and then take another in the mid to late rounds. However, I don't see them taking OTs with both of their first two picks.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
Connor Barwin and Lawrence Sidbury JR?
Why are they on the list. Both are hybrid 3-4 defensive players. Sidbury isnt too good vs. the run which is somthing important to our line. ANd Barwin is just not a Spags OLB. He cannot blitz well.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
...and yet, both made pre-draft visits to Rams Park (as did English, another player cut from the same mold).
I think Spagnuolo likes the DE/OLB hybrid type. He was able to develop Mathias Kiwanuka, who had the same profile coming out of college, into a very solid DE. And, don't forget, Leonard Little was a 'tweener when he came out of college too.
I think both of those guys could be good pass rushers. You never have too many of those.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
Well, that looks like a nice list of players. I think that they should draft OT in first round and then take Laurinaitis, Nicks, or Brace depending on who they think they can get in the later rounds. Who do you want them to get in the second Av?

Re: Round 2 Checklist
Brace and Laurinaitis are neck-and-neck. I like Nicks, but I'd fear for the defense if the Rams go with offensive players with their first two picks. I also like Barwin.

Re: Round 2 Checklist
This is not a prediction thread. Its merely my personal checklist. The interesting thing will be seeing how many of these players are still there as the first round draws to a close.
If, for example, the Rams take an OT in Round 1, that reduces the list to only 11 players (eliminating Beatty, Meredith and Kropog from consideration). Of those 11, I suspect that a few will go in first 34 picks. If there is a run on these players, I'll start really looking for a trade up to the late first round. If not, it will be interesting to see what the final decision will be.
So... now that I've explained this to you, you can stop being snarky.
