Round 2, Who do you Like?

With such a high second round pick. What 1st Round talent do you think will slip & why? Make your pick...

Re: Round 2, Who do you Like?

I've stated this before! no matter how pro day goes or anything else i think we are taking an OT in the 1st round. Jason Smith or Eugene Monroe. I would get into this a little more but this is about Round 2.

Hear me out on this one. I know if we take an OT in the 1st we should take a LB in the 2nd. But my choice is Evander Hood. He could play NT and LE. He can collapse the pocket be a team leader and everything. The only person i think that can drop from the 1st round is James Jaurinitis. However since the Patriots are in front of us u never know. They can take any LB.

Is there a chance Ron Brace makes it to our second pick... especially since the Chiefs aren't a head of us now?

Personally I'm more of a fan of taking Raji with our first pick but I know I'm alone on that wish.

I too would like Laurinaitis in round 2. But I doubt he will be there. That said I'm thinking the Rams will select Curry and maybe Lesean McCoy out of Pitt or Josh Freeman Kansas State...

I don't see a scenario where the Rams don't take a tackle with one of their top 2 picks. If we go Curry I would say Jamon Meridith. If we go OT I would say Ron Brace. Flajole scheme requires a strong space eating NT, so the LBs can play fast sideline to sideline. If Lauranatis falls he would also be an attractive option.

If I assume an OT in the first, then I would hope for a Lauranatis or Brace.

If I assume anything else, then I would hope for Loadholt or a Beatty.

Re: Round 2, Who do you Like?

I'm hoping we take Curry with our first - which would make me think we still need a LT to replace Pace and/or give us leverage w/Barron.

So our second round pick should be:

    William Beaty OT Connecticut

Now ... if we feel we must take that LT in the first then let it be Jason Smith and our second rounder should be:

    LeSean McCoy RB Pittsburgh

my second choice for second rounder if Beatty and McCoy are both gone is:

Jarron Gilbert DE/DT San Jose State

Re: Round 2, Who do you Like?

If the Rams take Jason Smith OT in 1st. The Rams need to take DT Evander "ZIGGY" Hood in 2nd or Brian Robiski WR.

No Ron Brace DT . During Senior Bowl week they said all Brace had was a bull rush. 6'3" , 324 LBS Ran a 5.47 , 40. benched 32 times.

    Rams take B. J. Raji in 1st.
    Then Brian Robiski in 2nd

Rams take Arron Curry LB in 1st
    DT Evander "ZIGGY" Hood in 2nd (6'4" , 300 LBS Ran 4.91 , 40 and benched 34 times )

I don't want the Rams to reach for a player just to get the OT in 2nd Round.
There will be OT's in the 3rd or 4th but I hope they take J. Smith or E. Monroe in the 1st.

Explain to me why you see Evander Hood as a nose tackle.

    Nick

I can't answer for BarronWade , but this is my thinking Move Adam Carriker back to DE and let Hood play inside.
    RD 3 Dorrell Scott 6'4" 320
    RD 4 Sammie Lee Hill 6'4" 328
RD 7 or UFA Antonio Dixon 6'3" 328

But I want Rams to draft 2 DT's in the draft or a UNDRAFTED Free agent. I don't want Rams wasting draft picks on FB's when their will be plenty undrafted.
I would rather see Rams draft a TE instead of a FB for WCO .

I dont think we will be drafting a pass rushing tackle with the intention of moving Carriker back outside. I don't think moving Carriker to DE is a good fit in Spags aggressive pass rushing defense. I think Little and Long will be much more effective there.

    Take the BPA...

    SS-William Moore, DT-Ron Brace, WR-Brian Robiskie

    One of them will do!

*I am assuming we take Aaron Curry and keep Orlando Pace

Re: Round 2, Who do you Like?

Yet again, I feel I have to rant on some people... I'm sorry Shan.

Adam Carriker was a 3-4 two gapping end at Nebraska! He was listed as a DE in the draft because that's officially what he played. He is absolutely NOT a 4-3 DE. In a 4-3 he translates as an Under Tackle or a 3-Technique tackle, stuffing the run and rushing the passer from the inside or maybe on stunts. He weighs over 300 pounds! He isn't going to be any good rushing every down from the outside!

But Teke, Chris Long was a 3-4 end at Virginia! Why is he playing DE for us? Because he weighs 260, is faster than Carriker, and much more agile. He translated to a 3-4 OLB in the NFL because he doesn't have the size to take up multiple blockers at this level. He does have the speed, however to go around the edge, and the strength to be able to bull rush as well from time to time. And so, 4-3 DE works out well for him, especially on the right side, where he can go one on one against the LT.

SO STOP THINKING CARRIKER IS A DE, HE'S A DT IN OUR SCHEME! Sorry for the yelling.

Now, to make this post about something on topic, the second round all depends upon what we do in the first, though it comes down to this for me: If we pick an OT in the first, then we pick the best front 7 defender left, with an emphasis on non Will LB's and non DE's as I like our group there. If we take Curry, then we take the best OT, whether it be Loadholt, Britton or Beatty.
