Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

I've always been fond of a buffet. Pick whatever you want to eat, from whatever is placed on the bar in front of you. Strap on the feedbag, that's how I roll.

With that in mind, how about we play a little game where you get to be the GM of the Internet; or e-M as it were. Get it? e-M? Like GM, but Internet....you know like e-mail, but a GM or e-M? Get it? Nevermind.

Anyway, here's the game: with certain assumptions in place pick the Rams 1st three rounds. The assumptions are:

Assumption 1 - Chris Long is a Dolphin.
Assumption 2 - Our first three rounds will net a OT, DE, & WR in no particular order.
Assumption 3 - The players listed below will be available at the respective picks.
Assumption 4 - Assumptions 1-3 aren't entirely full of poop.

So with that in place, just pick (and justify if you wish) a player from each round knowing that after three rounds the Rams must have a WR, DE, & OT.

Okay, let's have some fun:

Round 1

Vernon Gholston - DE - Ohio St.
Jake Long - OT - Michigan

Round 2

OT - Sam Baker, Carl Nicks, Anthony Collins
DE - Quentin Groves, Lawrence Jackson
WR - Devin Thomas, James Hardy, Early Doucet

Round 3

OT - Oniel Cousins, Heath Benedict, Tony Hills, Barry Richardson
DE - Chris Ellis, Jason Jones
WR - Donnie Avery, Lavelle Hawkins, Andre Caldwell, Harry Douglas, Eddie Royal, Jordy Nelson

Have fun!

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

Here's my picks, and just so you know, I'm going to cheat. I can't decide on my 1st round, so I'm going to plow two rows.

Scenario 1

1st - Jake Long
2nd - Quentin Groves
3rd - Donnie Avery

Scenario 2

1st - Vernon Gholston
2nd - James Hardy
3rd - Heath Benedict

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

with those as my choices I would take Vernon Gholston, Carl Nicks, and Donnie Avery.

I would prefer to go with Glenn Dorsey in the first and Chris Ellis in the third, or Pat Sims/ Red Bryant in the 2/3. I personally dont think that we need a wide reciever, we have too much invested there already andTorry and Issac are still productive.

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

1) Jake Long: I'm really starting to warm up to the ideal of having this stud wear the horns for years to come, not to mention I think he could lit a fire under Barron's big butt.

2) Quentin Groves: The one thing I like about this draft is that it's deep in good prospects for DE. And if Groves is there in the second round we need to grab him.

3) Eddie Royal: For some reason I really like this kid, Has speed & could do some return work for us as well.

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

1. Gholston

2. Baker

3. Avery

I could definately live with that first 3 picks if C. Long is gone.

Beef up the pass rush!!!! Close out the draft collecting lineman OL and DL. It's where the game is played. Next year the Rams could address skill positions. IMO, we give some of these older skilled players the oppertunity to make a run. The defense will hold there own. Build up the OL and watch in the twilight some of the most amazing players to don the horns go out and show us why we love this team.

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

Jake Long - Like said before, he would be a great player for years to come. Pace isn't getting any younger guys, we need to start thinking about the future.

Quentin Groves - I think he would be an effective pass rush, sure, not as good as Chris Long, but could easily get to that point.

Donnie Avery (or Earl Bennett) - Just young receivers thatll make an impact in the future.

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

With those presumptions, I'd go Gholston/Jackson/Avery.

That said, I have my doubts that the Rams will pass on J.Long for Gholston, so if they were to go with J.Long, my 2nd and 3rd would be Nicks/Avery.

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

Okay, here is what I would do. Kansas City really needs an OT and if Chris Long goes to the Dolphins trade our #2 for the Chiefs #5, #36 and #102. That would give the Rams an additional pick in Rounds 1-3 so I will list 4 players...

#5 - Vernon Gholston
#34 - Sam Baker
#36 - Dan Connor
#66 - LaVelle Hawkins

If the Rams plan to move to a 3-4 defense which is a hot topic right now, they definitely need another top linebacker.

Re: Rounds 1, 2, 3 .... pick your own.

1: DL Vernon Gholston
2: DL Quentin Groves
3: OL Heath Benedict

I don't think WR is nearly as big of a need as the lines.

The only bad thing about this for the Chiefs is we would be the only team ahead of them interested in J. Long. If they sweeten the deal enough they may get their guy though. I wouldnt mind stock piling more picks and still getting Gholston at 5.
