Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
This one is intriguing to me. Williams is (rightfully) considered a liability in coverage, but is very good in run support. Spagnuolo should be very familiar with him, as he played him twice each year. He's only 28, so he could have some good years left in him.
If signing Butler is a problem, I'd at least see how high Williams' asking price would be.
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
First off, considering that there's a 15 yard penalty that's informally named for him, I want to say no.
Second, because he has a couple pro bowls to his name(due to name recognition only in my mind), I figure his asking price will be higher than Butler.
Third, he's absolutely horrid in coverage. Maybe we could make him a Sam?
So before I go any further... let's just say no?
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
Man I don't know, i think I would rather move Pisa to SS than bring in a guy who is even worse at pass coverage than Hawaii 5-O is.
-And in case you were wondering, I think it would be horrible if Pisa was our SS.
But that being said, I'm no talent evaluator, and if Spags and Billy think he will be a good SS, then I'll support their decision. And we definitely need to bring someone in, be it Roy Williams or Aeneas Williams ;)
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
What worries me is they don't have a good replacement for him. So do you think they will start throwing money at Bulter?
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
Wouldn't consider Mr. Horse Collar at all. It's Butler or bust?
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
plus he has gotten progressively worse over his career...
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
if he was willing to accept minimum wage..id bring him in for special teams...
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
I sure hope the cowboys dont jump into the market for butler. At the end of the day, roy williams was really nothing more than a glorified version of adam archuleta before the back injury. Great tackler, no coverage skills. Of course, it really all depends on the price.

Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
Agree that he would be too much of a liability in pass coverage
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
He has to be one of the most over-rated players in the league. How he made it to 5 pro-bowls I'll never figure out.
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
If the circus in Dallas is letting him go there must be a reason?
My first instinct is to say no thank you.
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
Consensus agreement. Good work.
NO TO ORIGINAL ROY WILLIAMS, REGARDLESS!
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
I agree that Butler is the 1st choice. But with Williams you know that you aren't going to get those big runs down the middle that we saw last season. The guy can lay some serious hat.
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
No way no how. This guy is a cancer in the locker room, more than T.O.
Re: Roy Williams (SS) Released - Interested?
NO ! NO !
No Roy Williams. I haven't seen anybody mention Sean Jones from Cleveland. I know J. Butler played for Spags and knows his system. That must mean there is no other SS worth the $ or what. I Don't Think So.
