If the do this, I wouldn't be surprised to see them package that pick and another, maybe the 4th round pick, together and try to make a play at Chad Johnson. If Holt leaves this team we will have a huge gaping hole that no rookie could dream of filling. I also dont think we would trade Holt unless we had another big name reciever lined up.

I hate it. Whether or not its a practical move, I just hate with a passion the thought of us losing both Holt and Bruce in the same year. Maybe I would feel better about a trade like that if we had a little bit better of a track record in regards to drafting. But we don't, and I don't like the thought of our #1 receiving target being Drew Bennett.

Its not going to happen, so don't worry about it. Just speculation as usual. I'd be shocked if this happened....Why? Because it might actually put us in a better position than we would've originally thought. I think it would be a good idea, not that I don't love Holt, but getting Shepherd and another 1st round pick would be phenomenal.

Wasn't he the #1 WR for Tennessee? Vince Young was their QB most of that year, and they didn't have great RB's either, yet they finished 7-9(I think).

This would be a great deal for us. But, at this point..it's just a rumor.

Its different with vince young, he can scramble for 5mins then throw the ball. Bulger has to get rid of it, and Bennett is afarid to make a catch if these is a potential hit coming so he needs separation. Makes him useless to us as a number 1-2 or even 3 guy. He is just a wuss. I wish there was some way to get rid of him and his absurd contract.

In all honesty Holt is still a top tier player and I love him to death but he is aging and if we do want to get any value in a trade from him the time to do it is now. He will probably have a couple more 1,000 plus yard years but after about 2 years I'm guessing his production will either fall greatly due to his knee or he will retire early. As much as I hate the idea of losing both Bruce and Holt in the same offseason, I think this might be the right thing to do.

Even if it were a true story...this is how I see it.

1) Rams fans would basically stop rooting after losing 2 fan favorites.
2) Bulger won't have that "WR & QB" connection with anyone.
3) Bennett wasnt as good as Bruce, he wont be as good as Holt.

the only way i would advocate doing this trade is if we had been able to sign Randy Moss in FA

now the way i see this going is that we pick a first round WR to replace Holt. But we end up with a Randy Moss leaving Minnesota and the Vikes replacing him with Troy Williamson situation, and the first round WR busts out

FWIW, I checked on a about a half-dozen Eagles message boards and found only one that had a thread discussing this rumor (with no source).

I truly doubt this has any validity.
