Re: Sammy Watkins Just Not a Rams Fit

If we do draft Watkins, one thing I'd look forward to is the lining him up opposite of Tavon Austin. Those two are deadly in space and opposing defenses will have to pick their poison whether to send more linebackers/safeties on one side or the other. Heck it will open more opportunities for Zac Stacy and our other receivers.

I was at the Orange Bowl.

Yes I am a huge Clemson fan but we MUST draft this kid. He is a game changer. Hes not 6'4 but he plays tough, he snatches the ball from the air and his accelaration is unmatched. He is also a really good kid and works his tail off.

Sammy would look very good in a Rams Uniform. Cmon Les make it happen!!

It doesnt matter if hes a fit or not. This guy is a once every 10 years talent. If you pass on him because 'hes not a fit' or because you have another average receiver thats his same size then that would be a huge mistake. When was the last time the Rams had a 1,000 yard receiver? The receivers the Rams have now arent very good. Trading up for Austin was a mistake, yes, but that shouldnt stop you from making this pick. The Lions used their first round pick on a receiver for years and it finally payed off with Calvin Johnson.

Sam Bradford likes speed receivers who can create seperation. Hes not the type of QB that likes to throw up jump balls to a physical receiver. Sammy Watkins fits his skill set perfectly.

If the Rams want to take that next step as a franchise they need to stop taking safe picks. Remember how the Cowboys 'took a chance' or Dez Bryant? Sammy Watkins is the next Dez Bryant, but with none of the character issues.

Lets face the facts, the Rams STILL have not got Bradford a go to receiver. The Austin pick is looking like a mistake so far. The Rams need to try again. Its that simple. Chris Givens, Austin Pettis even Tavon Austin will likely never be 1,000 yard guys. They struggle to reach 100 yds in any game. They are simply not very good and would be the 3rd or 4th option on playoff teams.

People complaining about the bubble screens...why? That was like taking candy from a baby. Of course you cant do that in the NFL, but they showcased Watkins tremendous burst. This guy is strong. Watch him run through an arm tackle for a 75 yd TD. Austin cant do that and neither could a 'weak' receiver. My only question is, how is the Tavon Austin pick looking like a mistake?
