Re: Sanchez plane ticket to STL
When I saw this, I was shocked. But then again they probably bought other tickets for J. Smith, Monroe, and Curry. Let's hope they're refundable!

What a great smoke screen we are really pulling out all the tricks. Next thing we will hear is the Rams gave his parents season passes to the Rams games.

Way to keep the smoke rolling Billy D. Keep them guessing.

Re: Sanchez plane ticket to STL
a Ticket for Sunday is a little fishy since Mark Sanchez is definately going in the first round Saturday. Maybe there is smoke where there is fire on the other hand maybe not.
The best thing for us to do is not think about it and shut down all the CPUs until about 4:10 eastern tomorrow. That is if you can resist the urge

Here's the full report from NFL.com...
Rams, who pick second, buy Sanchez a plane ticket
Posted: Draft, News | Steve Wyche | Tags: 2009 NFL Draft, Jason Smith, Mark Sanchez, St. Louis Rams
Things have been overly crazy today, with information overload that entails a lot of deciphering and massaging.
I am in St. Louis at Rams Park for the draft this weekend, and chatter has been flying all over the place.
One thing that could be legit or be a ploy (it is interesting, if nothing else): The Rams, who hold the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, have purchased a plane ticket for USC QB Mark Sanchez to fly from Los Angeles to St. Louis on Sunday, when the team plans to introduce its top selection.
While the Rams have bought a ticket (hopefully, it’s refundable), they might not select Sanchez.
The thinking emanating from a lot of folks around here is that St. Louis will select Baylor OT Jason Smith. The Rams need to find a left tackle to replace veteran Orlando Pace, who was released in a cost-cutting move.
The Rams could be trying to generate some trade interest in keeping Sanchez’s name out there, but for a team that has won just five games in two seasons, drafting wisely would be prudent, to say the least.
Nonetheless, the plane ticket for Sanchez is intriguing.

What a stroke of genious it'll be If the Rams can get a team to actually bite on this for the price of a plane ticket.

Re: Sanchez plane ticket to STL
Exactly my thinking, Mike. The cost of a plane ticket for an NFL team is nothing, especially if you can end up selling the fact that you're really going to take him to the Redskins or Jets or Broncos or whoever. I just really hope that we're NOT going to keep him!

Re: Sanchez plane ticket to STL
Could this be why John Shaw is now in the War room? Billy Devaney and Spags might not be so judgment poor as to take a QB over the gaping holes at Tackle and MLB, but John Shaw, based on history, might.

One of the little known, yet needed skills of pulling off an unlikely smokescreen: Put someone who is known for past misjudgments into your draft process.

A little more on this rumor from profootballtalk.com
RAMS COULD BE IN HOT WATER OVER PLANE FARE
Posted by Mike Florio on April 24, 2009, 8:44 p.m.
In response to the story that the Rams have bought a plane ticket for USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, a league source tells us that the Rams might eventually be making an even larger donation in the form of cash or future draft picks.
“If the Rams purchased a ticket for Sanchez they are breaking rules,” a league source told us tonight. “They can do no such thing until they are on the clock. I would think the Commish would get a little testy over that.”
It’s possible that the Rams didn’t buy a ticket, and that they floated the story to Steve Wyche of NFL.com in order to advance a ruse aimed at getting Redskins owner Daniel Snyder to offer St. Louis a boatload of picks or players to move up to No. 2.
But if they went the extra step and actually purchased the ticket — even if they aren’t really interested in Sanchez — they could be in trouble.
We still think the Rams don’t want Sanchez, primarily because they have bigger needs. And they have Marc Bulger.
Though we wouldn’t be completely surprised by a decision from the Rams to draft Sanchez and trade Bulger, the Rams don’t need to take a bonus acceleration to help get to the salary floor; they currently have only $10 million in cap space, which puts them above the 2009 spending minimum.

Re: Sanchez plane ticket to STL
Rumors here in Springfield are pointing towards a ticket for Maria Sanchez, a restaurant owner who is known for her great traditional entrees. Of course, this could also be a smokescreen...
My question is: What if Detroit picks Sanchez?
Ignore the above question - I just found out Detroit supposedly signed Stafford. We'll soon find out...Last edited by RamsFanSam; -04-25-2009 at 08:51 AM. Reason: late on the news...
