This is the jist of most these articles...

Well, they could be using the smoke screen but actually having interest while using smoke screen to try to get other teams to believe they are interested even though they might actually pick him. But then again, it could just be a smoke screen.

RAMS COULD BE IN HOT WATER OVER PLANE FARE

In response to the story that the Rams have bought a plane ticket for USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, a league source tells us that the Rams might eventually be making an even larger donation in the form of cash or future draft picks.

“If the Rams purchased a ticket for Sanchez they are breaking rules,” a league source told us tonight. “They can do no such thing until they are on the clock. I would think the Commish would get a little testy over that.”

It’s possible that the Rams didn’t buy a ticket, and that they floated the story to Steve Wyche of NFL.com in order to advance a ruse aimed at getting Redskins owner Daniel Snyder to offer St. Louis a boatload of picks or players to move up to No. 2.

But if they went the extra step and actually purchased the ticket — even if they aren’t really interested in Sanchez — they could be in trouble.

We still think the Rams don’t want Sanchez, primarily because they have bigger needs. And they have Marc Bulger.

Though we wouldn’t be completely surprised by a decision from the Rams to draft Sanchez and trade Bulger, the Rams don’t need to take a bonus acceleration to help get to the salary floor; they currently have only $10 million in cap space, which puts them above the 2009 spending minimum.
Timing is everything here. If the Rams purchased the ticket after Stafford signed his deal, then the Rams are off the hook. Once Stafford signed on with the Lions, the Rams were on the clock.
That's my story, and I'm sticking to it!!

Who would know that buying an airline ticket for a person could get you in trouble? How bizzare

According to ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Rams also have tickets for Monroe and Smith. So I'm not sure I'd read into this that much.

Re: Sanchez plane ticket to STL

Apparently the Jets Skins and Bucs are all trying to get to the second pick since they don't want us to take Sanchez. Devaney really pulled the strings on this one and I hope it works. Its starting to involve 2010 first rounders.

On other sites and boards. They are making fun of how stupid the Skins and Jets are and how they just want fantasy teams but I really hope its true. .

ps. I really hope Florio isn't spewing this.

According to Steve Wyche (NFL.com), there is a ticket for Curry as well.

"...The Rams booked a reservation for Sanchez to fly from Los Angeles to St. Louis on Sunday morning, but they apparently have tentative travel plans for other prospects as well. Those prospects, other than Sanchez, are believed to include Baylor OT Jason Smith, Virignia OT Eugene Monroe and Wake Forest LB Aaron Curry.
Those travel plans could be nothing more than a huge smokescreen, and even so, the Rams get an “A” for effort and ingenuity. There is a lot more to come from here in St. Louis, and I will keep you posted through the day.
