I'm sad this isn't a real news item. Perhaps an obese receiver is the way to go. Who needs hands when Sam can fling a ball in there and hope it gets stuck in fold?

I wonder if this information is put out by his people in an attempt to get people down on him. then he shows up at the combine 235 and runs a 4.6 and it might turn some heads in a good way. Just a thought.

Honestly, I could care less how much he weighs as long as he can move. A 249 lb. receiver would just be that much harder to bring down, but the 4.88 40 rumor if true would put him in line with the faster DTs in the league.

Here's another rumor from rotoworld, this time its positive for Alshon's draft stock.

Aaron Wilson of Scout.com is "hearing" that South Carolina WR Alshon Jeffery is down to 217-220 pounds and intends to run in the 4.5s at the Combine.
The 217-220 range would be ideal for Jeffery, and running in the 4.5s could save him from the draft-day plunge projected by some after rumors surfaced that he weighed 249 and was running 4.88 as of January. "We'll see," allows Wilson. Jeffery is the most polarizing wide receiver in the 2012 draft class.

Just a few more days to the combine and we'll all know.

Re: Say goodbye to Alshon Jeffery

If we trade with the Browns for #4 and #22 and draft Blockmon at #4, would we consider Jeffery at #22, or is that focussing too much draftpower on one area of the field?

Oh and hi all, first ever post

Re: Say goodbye to Alshon Jeffery

Welcome JD. To answer your question, no. We would not spend 2 first round picks on a WR unless for whatever reason we had Jeffery ranked in our top 10. We have too many holes, and yes, WR counts for two of them, but we need line help on both sides, linebackers, a running back, cornerback depth, and various other things.

What I've been suggesting we think about, however, is that we trade down to the late or even out of the top 10(maybe two trades, if we can swing it) and go after Floyd, Jeffery or Randle(or whomever) as who we determine to be the best of the 2nd tier of WR's and pick up a bunch of draft picks in the process.
    I believe!

True there's a lot of gaps and areas for improvement, would be a shame to miss out on a big name though. Tough calls ahead...

I'd rather have Dontari Poe if he were still on the board at the 22 spot .. I'm still bummed we passed on Haloti Ngata ...

Interesting, I've not heard Poe and Rams in the same sentence too many times..people are talking about trades a lot, as they should given the situation we find ourselves in, but there's no real consensus about who we'd draft if we got a second first round pick.

We probably won't hear much connecting Poe to the Rams as many see him as a 3-4 NT and we ostensibly will be playing a 4-3. However, if Jeff and Les think he has "it," you never know .. Jeff likes big nasty guys, and Poe profiles pretty well in those areas ..

As far as Jeffery goes, there is a lot of time between now and draft day. If he shines at the combine (interviews and timed speed etc.), who knows how far his stock will rise?

Re: Say goodbye to Alshon Jeffery

Maui, a 3-4 NT can only open things up for the other 3 linemen to get single teamed! Wanna see what Long can do against constant 1 on 1's?

A big nasty in the middle of a 4 man line can be devastating, and I am very interested in seeing who might slip down to 33, or 22 as the case may be.
    I believe!
