Re: A Scenario So Crazy It Just Might Work: Mike Wallace Edition
Way back when Wallace was tendered I was willing to do a deal with him for our first round pick (the #2 overall btw) so I'm sure you can imagine how I would feel about giving them #33 overall in a trade. The key hear is since Wallace isn't signing the tender, and no one has offered him/them a better deal, they would be willing to part with him for less than a first, and it doesn't get much closer to the first round than #33(ie more attractive than anything else offered to them).
I would absolutely still draft Blackmon at #6 if he was available (which would most likely mean TRich and Claiborne are gone).
Blackmon, Wallace, Danny, Salas, Steve Smith, Kendricks, S JAX, Bradford... I think that's GSOT 2.0 gentlemen.
Geez I wish real life was more like Madden...

Re: A Scenario So Crazy It Just Might Work: Mike Wallace Edition
Question is, where do we find the cap space AND still field an entire offensive line?

Re: A Scenario So Crazy It Just Might Work: Mike Wallace Edition
Berg, i guess the answer in theory to your question (which is a great one) is the following:
Jason Smith stays, takes a pay cut, stays healthy, and has a strong year at offensive tackle.
We draft a guard at pick #39 and hope for the best in terms of rookie performance.
Another alternative would be for us to draft a tackle at 39 (mike adams?) and have smith move to guard at a reduced salary cap number.
I will say this. If we dont dramatically improve our offensive line play it wont matter if sammy has bruce and holt to throw to.
