Scheffler on the trading block
Rotoworld is reporting that Josh McDaniels is continuing to shake things up in Denver by placing TE Tony Scheffler on the trading block. Apparently the new Head Coach doesn’t think that Scheffler’s skill set will work in his proposed offense as he is much more suited to a West Coast Offense…
With the Rams new OC Pat Shurmur looking like he intends to run a WCO and current TE Randy McMichael returning from nagging injury issues, will the Rams be interested in a deal? Seeing as an elite player like Kellen Winslow was traded for a 2009 second round and 2010 fifth round pick, Scheffler is worth what… a 4th rounder???
Re: Scheffler on the trading block
Well that's not going to make Cutler any happier... he really liked Scheffler as a first option his first year and then as a safety blanket the last couple as he grew to find his outside receivers more. As for us, I don't think we have the cap room to be going after him, as we have two good TE's now(Randy Mac and Becht), are maybe pursuing another, and then have Klop and Fells as well. While none of them were brought in by our current staff, I would imagine that we don't need to trade for Scheffler, as I'd put him about equal in terms of receiving ability as Randy Mac, but I think that he's less of a blocker than Randy is as well.
Re: Scheffler on the trading block
Too many other holes more important than a TE right now. The only way I trade a draft pick is to fill a position like the LT, DT or CB. IMHO.
