Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
I hope the Rams really didn't make an offer. I thought the new front office had more sence...

The guy has said time after time he want to be a starting quarterback. The second Bradford throws and errant throw or throws a pick, the Tebow chants will start. They will inevitably grow louder, and it would become a distraction for Bradford, and for the Rams.
Tebow is not your average backup QB. He's a backup QB with a legion of fans who beleive he's Joe Montana.

1. His body is not used to the amount of punishment it would take for him to play FB. He's a strong guy, but NFL FB's have been playing FB for a long time and their bodies are a brick.
2. He has no knowledge of how to run routes, or anything for that matter that a TE needs.
Basically, Tebow doesn't fit here, other than being a emotional cheerleader.
He was the strongest player on the gators, ran people over time and time again last year. He is an athlete. Granted he is not a quarterback. But in my view he fills three- four positions with one roster spot.

You misunderstood. I was MEHing the notion that he's the "ultimate team player."
What makes him more of a "team player" than, say... Danario Alexander? Do you have any idea what that guy has had to go through just to get on the field?
What about they guy who never gets to play, but runs scout drills every week to help the team prepare (you know, the Rudy type). Is he less of a "team player" than Tim Tebow?
How about all those long-snappers? They work every week to do a job that will only get noticed if they screw up. I'd say they are true "team players."
The Tebow nonsense makes me ill. He's just a guy with a great PR team. That's it.
Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
As soon as one person claims tebow is a better qb than Sam Bradford I'll agree with you all. Im just trying to put a positive spin on a thread that was three pages full of sky is falling freaking out. He is a great football player. It won't be a bad thing to bring him to the rams.

Tebow isn't going to come here to learn a new brand new position just because he's strong or whatever. The position he plays is quarterback.

I wouldn't want the circus nor the distractions. No thanks!

Yeah, his whining and fussing last year before training camp about his boyhood dream of becoming a starting QB in the NFL being "grabbed away" didn't exactly resinate as "ultimate team player".
Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
Lets just put this to bed:
Per Jim Thomas-
Quote:
Rams sources insist they are not involved in Tebow. They were poking around mainly to see what other backup QBs might be available. . .

. . .on teams that were interested in Tebow. "Way too much has been made" of Rams purported interest in Tebow says one team source.
Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
All i need to see to convince me that Tebow does not help a team win championships is to watch his performance against the Patriots last year. Enough said just say no.
Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
The only problem I'd have with the trade is the money. I'd be fine with him as our backup, and giving up late picks isn't too bad, since we might use one to draft a QB anyways. And chances are they'd be worse than Tebow. but I believe he's paid around 2 million a year, and that money could be used elsewhere.

While it appears that most of this is speculation and wild rumors, I think the above statement is the most important statement so far. Either way I think it would be a short term revenue boost and a complete distraction to the team for however long that "short term" lasts. No thanks.
Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
I'm surprised so few people are for this.
On the Tebow personality side, I'm extremely atheist, and am fairly nauseated by the idea of religion in public. But he's obviously a really nice guy. Religious differences aside, there's no way I cannot like Tim Tebow as a person.
On the football side...
Just as clear as it is that Tebow needs a LOT of work on his passing skills, it's equally clear that he's a skilled football player overall. I have little doubt that he'd be able to help the team on the team some way, somehow.
But it's not his football skills that make me want this to happen.
I want the Rams to show some EXCITEMENT again. The days of the Greatest Show on Turf -- yes, we all loved them because it was incredible football. But it was also incredible excitement. It was just so much FUN to watch. Now? Watching games is painful. The team is bad, and not only that, there's just so little to hold my interest. I stick it out because I'm a Rams fan, and I know someday it'll turn around. But the last few years... it's been rough tuning in.
Even in the post GST-era, when the team got bad, at least it was entertaining. I loved the days of Mad Martz. I loved the complaints about him. It was interesting. There were reasons to watch. Now? It's boredom city. We're the least interesting team in the NFL.
Please, Tebow, come on over!
Kind of a rambly post, I guess that's why I don't post much. :)
Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
Tebow can not be a back-up QB, he would not be able to run the offense that Bradford does. So we would have to have a secondary O in place for him to come in and play.
I like Tebow, really i do. Just not as my teams QB
Re: Jets trade for Tebow hits a snag, could Rams be back in play?
47.3 completion percentage.
