Schefter: Tebow trade to come down to Jets or Jags; Rams out of the mix

The New York Jets gave up a 4th and 6th round pick for Tebow and a 7th round pick. But according to Michael Lombardi, the Rams had the highest offer on the table at one point.

That's the same Schefter who, two days ago, claimed that both he and Chris Mortenson (who clearly was first) "broke" the Manning story.

I'm not saying Lombardi is wrong, I'm just throwing it out there, as there seems to be a lot of misinformation going around these days.

I will say this - I am very happy the Rams did not acquire Tebow. I think the guy is a bad QB, and Sam does not need the distraction of fighting against the Tebow mythology.

Really? What were they going to bring him in for? To get the fans to turn on Bradford the second he makes and errant throw? They couldn't bring him in to run the #2 offense behind Bradford, because he's a scrambling-chuck-it-up-to-the-wind QB, and not a pocket QB. Were they going take Bradford off the field and to run the wildcat offense, disrupting his rhythm? Would a glorified, over hyped, backup have Quarterback brought anything to this team other than ESPN's attention?

I truly question the decision making regarding this, if this is true. Thank heaven for the Jets.

The Rams have been searching for a backup QB for the entire offseason. They probably had a trade proposal for their 6th and 7th round pick. Big deal it wouldn't of hurt their chances of acquiring talent.

Tebow fits the mold of the locker room, and could play in certain situations. Bradford was also injured they entire season last year so having a capable backup who can win in this league is important. Whether or not you like Tebow, he's good inside the redzone, and he could have taken some pressure off of the team when they actually reach it.

Bradford isn't Orton. Fans know he's the franchise QB.

JThomas and Bernie seem to be confirming that the Rams made an inquiry, but neither has indicated that the team actually made an offer.

No matter... the Jets are welcome to him.
