Scott Wright's 2005 MOCK DRAFT - April 16th, 2005
See the full thing here...
But here's what he sees the Rams doing:
19. St. Louis Rams: Jammal Brown, OT, Oklahoma
50. St. Louis Rams: Jason Campbell, QB, Auburn (WHAT!?)
66. St. Louis Rams (f/MIA): Stanley Wilson, CB, Stanford
81. St. Louis Rams: Vincent Fuller, S, Virginia Tech
Just to clarify, Josh Bullocks was off his board when the Rams came around to pick. But David Baas, Corey Webster, Brandon Browner, Donte Nicholson, Ernest Shazor, and Bryant McFadden were all available. I'd kill to grab Brown and Baas in the first two rounds, but I'd prefer any of the previously named players over Campbell in the second round.

Exactly what do we want with a QB in the second round

I've been following Wright's mocks this offseason, and I must say he is far and away my favorite draftnik. Having said that, he really disappointed me with this mock (I'm hoping and assuming he'll update at some point this week) for the reasons you mentioned above. I can't imagine passing on Baas to pick Campbell. And beyond that, I'm not as sold on Wilson as others. I think they could have gone with Webster at #66 if we wanted a corner or gone with either OLB McCoy or (if we really wanted a 1st day QB) McPherson and then picked up Browner or Darrant Williams with the #81 pick.

Mel Kiper has the Rams taking:
1.(19)Jamaal Brown
2.(50)Justin Tuck DE Notre Dame
3.(66)Cory Webster CB LSU
3.(81)Oshiomogho Atogwe S Stanford
4.(117)Chris Kemoeatu OG Utah
4.(134)Dan Buenning OG Wisconsin
I dont really think we will go with two OG's in round 4 as we have other pressing needs. As for DE with the 2nd pick I also dont see happening. I think the team is confident in Hargrove or they would have pushed to keep Fisher.
Scouts inc. has the Rams taking:
1(19)Jamaal Brown OT Oklahoma
2(50)Brandon Browner CB Oregon State
Scouts Inc. Says they think we will draft Browner and move him to safety. I don't know why but the more I think about it the more I don't think we will get Brown in round 1. I have this strange feeling we are trading up to get Thomas Davis from Georgia. Not that I want this to happen just a gut feeling. In Scouts Inc. mock Davis is still there at 19 when we pick Brown. Kiper has the Saints taking Davis. I would just like the Rams to stand pat and use their 12 picks to their full potential. PLEASE NO PROJECT PLAYERS!Just Fix It
