Re: Second Round Question
When non-stud guys come out from very talented defenses, one of the concerns is whether he really is as good a player as advertised or whether the defense helped make him look good. Again, he's a great return man, but he was a nickel corner until this season, I believe, and he played in a pretty stacked secondary. You have to take that under consideration.

Some of the guys I'm looking at for the third round include TEs Alex Smith and Joel Dreessen (if I could grab Smith at the top of round three, I'd love it), OL Marcus Johnson or Ben Wilkerson, DE Demarcus Ware, OLBs Rian Wallace or maybe even someone like Roger Cooper with the latter pick, and CB Antonio Perkins.Last edited by Nick; -02-22-2005 at 09:12 PM.

Re: Second Round Question
I'd love to get Perkins in the 3rd if he is there still!

Re: Second Round Question
I'd definitely take him in the third if he is there as well, though I'd be tempted to take some other guys ahead of him if they are there as well. Right now, if I had it my way, I'd probably take Alex Smith and Perkins in the third round.

Re: Second Round Question
Hmmm, I would've been tempted to take a look at Lance Mitchell in the 2nd round.
Perkins would be a steal in the 3rd IMO, and I bet you could grab Dreessen with the second 3rd round pick.
I wish this was really the Rams draft. I'd be going nuts.
Brown, Bullocks, Perkins and Dreessen? Can't complain about that.
Let us know how things went after Round 3.Last edited by ZigZagRam; -02-23-2005 at 02:28 AM.

Re: Second Round Question
I'd say you're doing us proud, Nick. Brown and Bullocks with the first two...nothing wrong with that. Along with Smith and Dreesen, another TE to look at in the 3rd would be Kevin Everett from Miami. Perkins at corner, Ruud is still there at ILB, Wallace at OLB...there's still a lot of quality picks out there.
Your friend from Jax has created quite the bookends on the D-line hasn't he? This could be interesting, it'd be like cloning Wistrom and having them on each end.21. Jacksonville Jaguars - David Pollack, DE, Georgia 52. Jacksonville Jaguars - Matt Roth, DE, Iowa
And speaking of solidifying a defense...I applaud your friend from San Diego. Well done.12. San Diego Chargers –from NYG- Marcus Spears, DE, Louisiana State 28. San Diego Chargers - Brodney Pool, S, Oklahoma
Keep it up, Nick. You're representing well over there."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Second Round Question
Another strategy I'm thinking could have been employed was I could have passed on Brown and gone defense in round one, assuming the Rams either sign a vet right tackle like Fred Miller in FA or drafted one in the second or early third round. Guys like Michael Munoz and Jeremy Parquet are still available, although Tampa's about to make a run at Munoz.
But I'm happy with Brown and Bullocks for the moment. We'll see how the third and final round of this mock turns out.

Re: Second Round Question
Here's how the rest of the second round came out, for those interested.
51. Green Bay Packers –from NO- Lance Mitchell, LB, Okalhoma
52. Jacksonville Jaguars - Matt Roth, DE, Iowa
53. Baltimore Ravens - Chris Kemoeatu, OG, Utah
54. Seattle Seahawks - Ciatrick Fason, RB, Florida
55. Buffalo Bills - Luis Castillo, DT, Northwestern
56. Denver Broncos - CJ Mosley, DT, Missouri
57. New York Jets - Alex Smith, TE, Stanford
58. Green Bay Packers - Andrew Walter, QB, Arizona State
59. Atlanta Falcons - Wesley Britt, LT, Alabama
60. Indianapolis Colts - Bryant McFadden, CB, Florida State
61. San Diego Chargers - Roscoe Parrish, WR, Miami (FL)
62. Pittsburgh Steelers - Kirk Morrison, LB, San Diego State
63. Philadelphia Eagles - Rian Wallace, LB, Temple
64. New England Patriots - Lofa Tatupu, LB, USC
It's only going through two rounds, because people can't make their picks on time and the guy running it ended up making like half of the picks for teams.Last edited by Nick; -02-24-2005 at 09:11 PM.

Re: Second Round Question
Nick, had there been a 3rd round, you would have had a lot to pick from. At TE, Everett and Dreesen are both still there, plus if you wanted to go D, Demarcus Ware is still on the board. Some interesting picks there in the last half of the 2nd round though, some real head scratchers
That looked like fun, Nick. Thanks for sharing it with us."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: Second Round Question
The last couple of picks, the guy just filled in some names for people who weren't picking. I don't get the idea that much thought was put into it, because by this point, he just wanted to end it due to lack of participation.
