    Shawn Andrews

Cut today by Philly. The guy has some issues and I'm not sure how I feel about him. He is fairly young and a former pro bowler. Given our recent history of filling our offense full of former Eagles, does anybody think this guy might end up being on our radar?

i'm not really sure what's up with his health, if he's ready to go he seems like an upgrade at right tackle if he can still handle it.

It sounds like he doesn't really have the necessary passion to play professional football anymore, and has been dealing with depression. Not sure we'd want that kind of player right now.

NTM he also has a history of lower back problems and he's probably better suited to play guard more than tackle.

Other than that what's not to like?

Where is his head. Rumor is he lost interest in football and has suffered from depression. If his head checks out. You have to love what he offers on the field at either RG or RT

Not only his head, his back too. Very weary of signing a guy who has only played 2 games in the last 2 years. But it is somewhat of a high risk/high reward scenario. He is a 27 year old 3x pro bowler.

And given our penchant for scooping up the Eagles sloppy seconds, signing this guy is certainly possible.

Whoa my eyes lit up when I saw this thread's title. I figured it was a trade scenario, didn't know he was cut.

As much as I hate signing free agents who were cut or left their team bc their contract ran out (heavy sarcasm).... if Spags brought him in and liked what he saw, as far as attitude and health, it would fill an big hole and make our offensive line one of the best in the NFL.

Man o man, I would love this. Get on the phone Billy!

    Smith, Bell, Brown, Greco, Andrews
    or my favorite,
    Barron, Bell, Brown, Andrews, Smith.

S Jax might run for 3,000 yards behind that beef!

No thanks. Haven't we already dealt with a RT who doesn't have his head in the game?

I Lol'ed fairly heartily at that. Not too familiar with Shaun Andrews but he certainly sounds awesome. Yet if the guy doesn't want to ball anymore leave hime alone because that depression he suffers from and lack of enthusiasm could relapse back on him at any time during the season.

I wonder what's worng with the guy though...

    Re: Shawn Andrews

id get him in for a visit..just to check out where his mental and physical state is at..there are more forms of depression than joe public is probably aware of..i`d want to know which form of it he has/had...it could have just been from the break up of a relationship or a death of a closed one that he could have come to terms with now..or he could have an inbalance in his brain, where the depression is something that he will have for life.
a common tendency of someone with whatever form of depression (if its long term) is to walk away from situations that cause stress..if he has a long term form of depression then i wouldnt be willing to sign him to a long term contract..nor for big money..but would offer a 2 year incentive laden contract. should his back be healed properly that is..

And he was also playing with his brother last year, right? If your brother can't keep your head in it, then I think it's past fixing.

They were on the same team but never played a single down together.

    Re: Shawn Andrews

I'd like to see him in for a visit. I think that if a change of scenery is what he needs, he'd be a welcome starter at Right Guard for the Rams.

If and only if he's proven healthy and WANTS to play football, I would feel confident in our offensive line with a combination of Smith / Bell / Brown / Andrews / Barron. In fact, if this OL were to be the starting five next season and beyond (with the possible exception of Barron) I'd feel more confident in drafting Bradford, to the point where he might leapfrog Suh as the better choice on my board.

Those are two pretty big if's right there, and even if this scenario were to materialise, I still think the Rams should turn their attention to finding an OT or an OG to start next year in April's draft. Barron could well be gone and at present we don't know who our new guy will be at RG. I'd be looking for one as early as #2 overall.

We don't need him, we got Hank Fraley now.
