Should we sign FS Nick Collins?

" Free agent S Nick Collins reiterated his surgically-repaired neck is "100 percent," and he's "ready" to resume his playing career. Collins was a fan favorite with the Packers, which is part of the reason he's getting a lot of attention from the Green Bay media. He suffered a serious neck injury in Week 2 of the 2011 season and needed cervical fusion surgery. Collins says the only doctor that wouldn't medically clear him is Packers team doc Dr. Pat McKenzie. 30-year-old Collins is hoping to get a shot to join a team this summer. It seems highly doubtful, but we won't completely rule it out. "

Now, do we go after Collins? He was a pro bowl FS with the Packers and is only at 30 years old. I would definitely kick the tires on Collins. At worst he serves as depth or doesn't make the team, and at best we have a top 5 FS in the NFL (which is what he was when he got hurt).

    For the vet minimum yes

Even as a backup if need be, if he can actually play he will be better than Giordano and Stewart

I'd have doctors take a look.

Giordano is FA. I'd be open for Collins getting at a good look.

No matter what... the Rams secondary is going to be young. It never hurts to have a veteran in the mix, especially during training camp. And Collins sounds hungry. 30 is also in the mix for a body still being young enough to bounce back from injury. Now if he was 33... I'd have a completely different opinion.

I wouldn't be in a rush to sign him. If he's still available in May or June, maybe bring him in then.

I'd definitely be interested to see what he still has left. He was a big reason why GB won their Super Bowl.
