Small School Prospect Jared Veldheer
Does anyone have any info on OT Jared Veldheer from Hillsdale?
I have a love for big offensive linemen, and this guy is frickin huge.
6-9, 325lbs, and reportedly has a 30inch vertical jump, runs the 40 yard dash in 4.9secs, and benches crazy numbers, and is supposedly very athletic.

Re: Small School Prospect Jared Veldheer
I had him in my last mock draft. He was voted the best lineman in all of D1AA. I like the guy as our potential RT of the future. I'm not sure if he is playing in the East West Shrine Bowl or the Senior Bowl.

Hmm, that sounds intriguing. What round did you have him going in? Round 4? 5?

and from cdsdraft.com:
HeightGPA: 3.0 (Bio major)
6 ' 6.8 "
Weight
321 lbs.
Speed
4.87 ( Unofficial )
Projected round: 3
Strengths:
Dominating size and athletic ability at left tackle. 10.125 inch hands and huge frame reminiscent of Jonathan Ogden. Plays to the whistle. Good footwork and blocking mechanics allow him to get to the defender quickly. Frame will allow him to get even bigger. Self-report of 4.87 and 4.94 40 times (summer, '09).
Weaknesses:
Upright pass-blocker who will need to improve as he faces elite competition. Has been able to dominate on strength alone in D-2; may need some time to adjust to next-level defender's speed.Last edited by timsum1283; -01-19-2010 at 01:06 AM. Reason: duplicate info

Re: Small School Prospect Jared Veldheer
I am confident that this guy has the ability and potential to be a solid RT in the NFL, and if that doesn't work out, we could always move him inside to guard where he can rely on his strength to bulldoze smaller DT's. Big NT's like Casey Hampton etc would be no match for him.
