So I was watching ESPN...
Todd McShay and Mel Kiper Jr. had their usual face off thinger that they do and they were talking about who the Rams are going to take. Kiper said Chris Long, hooray. McShay, as the mock draft said took Glenn Dorsey with the logic that makes Nick sick, to move Adam Carriker back to defensive end.
It begs the question: who'd make the better defensive end, Chris Long or Adam Carriker?
Kiper also had Albert going to Kansas City at number 5. That makes me sick. The guy can only play one position at once, do people really think he's better than Ryan Clady, Chris Williams, Jeff Otah? That seems really out there for me.

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
For the most part, these "draft experts" look at the team's standings. Because the team did better, these people think that the player is better.
But ofcourse Chris Long will be better. Drafting Dorsey will be a huge mistake.

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
Well, Carriker was taken 13th in the draft; Chris Long probably won't make it out of the top 5. Physically, I'd guess Carriker is probably a little stronger, Long a little faster. Technically, both use their hands well but Long has more pass rush moves. I don't think you'll find many who would argue Carriker is a better defensive end.

Long, better with the hands, faster, and has more moves.

Then why move him back outside?

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
Long is undoubtedly the better DE, but the question really is, what's the better combination, Carriker DT/Long DE or Dorsey DT/Carriker DE.

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
Won't everybody be pissed when we draft Dorsey and move him outside, then offically having a DE playing DT and a DT playing DE...
or with Losehan logic, draft Chris long and move him inside and Ryan or Carriker outside... don't even try to tell me this couldn't happen, we all know L-han is over testing this senario out in madden right now.
haha Losehan... makes me laugh.

I watched this too. I really do find that McShay has patented his own special brand of idocy. Here's my catch cry for Dorsey: I doesn't make sense!
From now on, I propose that when anything draft-realted borders on the preposterous, it is not "wrong" or "unlikely", rather, it is to be labelled "McShay".

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
Chris Long. :r
I think AC is growing mentally and physically into a DT. A bit too large for DE. Whereas Chris may really make it a successful career in the NFL as a strong, fast DE with all the traits of a Grant Wistrom at his best -- and then some.
Good poll Archer.

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
I'd still rather we could trade down a few spots and take Vernon Gholston. I just fear we'll take C. Long, and then drool over the possibility that we could've had a monster sack machine.

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
speed - Long
strength - Carriker
first step - Long
hands - push
work ethic - push
character - push
pass rush - Long
run stop - Carriker
In the grand scheme of things, I'd say Long is the better 4-3 End.
And yes, all the Dorsey talk (ESPN, NFLN, tx) has me wondering just how that would work. I could see a 3-4 line of Carriker, Ryan, Dorsey. Would there be problems? Sure there would, including.......applying a 2-gap scheme to a 1-gap DT (Dorsey), a smallish 3-4 NT (Ryan), and the obselescence of Little, Hall, & Adeyanju.
It just seems like we're trying to make a square peg fit a round hole with Dorsey."Before the gates of excellence the high gods have placed sweat; long is the road thereto and rough and steep at first; but when the heights are reached, then there is ease, though grievously hard in the winning." --- Hesiod

Re: So I was watching ESPN...
All these guy's have the RAMS moving CARRIKER , when LINEHAND already said he would put DORSEY next to CARRIKER AND START both of them on the inside .
SO it would look like this i would guy's in linehans eye's .
LITTLE - DORSEY - CARRIKER - HALL/V.A.
then i guess it's just a free for all when the ball get's snapped , and i'll meet ya at the QB.
