Someone to keep an eye on
Cal WR Lavelle Hawkins
He's quietly been having one of the most impressive Senior Bowl performances this week. Largely considered "the other guy" at Cal with teammate DeSean Jackson getting more attention, Hawkins actually led the Golden Bears in receptions and tied for the team lead in touchdowns this season.
Word has it he's been tearing up at the Senior Bowl practices, catching everything in sight and beating just about anyone trying to cover him. He's been making highlight reel catches and shows a good ability to gain yards after the catch. Those in attendance conclude he's done as much if not more than anyone at Mobile to improve his stock.
If the team is looking for youth at wide receiver, Hawkins could be a viable option at the top of the third round.

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
I agree, but with the way he is playing this week and if he has a huge game on Saturday, it would be very hard to fall into the 3rd round especially with the parity at the WR position this year. I would be thrilled if that were to happen of course.

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
if we can get him with the draft, itll be interesting to see him as #2 or #3 receiver.

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
As my 12-year-old nephew would say.....tru-dat. Hawkins has been getting a ton of good press. If he keeps the momentum going with solid combine and workout, he may not even be there in the 3rd.

I wouldnt take him in the 2nd but I would in da 3rd. I think we could get better value in the second than him plus we have bigger needs

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
He's one of my 10 players on the Radar for the 3rd round, though I prefer Donnie Avery due to his speed and potential as a return specialist.

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
but we already have a ton of receivers that are 6-0' to 5-8' . avery is a small guy right , was a rb and was moved to wr . is that the guy , about 5-7' or 5-8' . and we have a loaded roster of return guy's now , we need no more , really . if we could grab a big fasty like adarius bowman . big kid long strider , good hands and speed . it seems he's moving up the boards abit . i would take ' maybe EARLY DOUCET 6-0' 207lb with our #2 and BOWMAN with our 3rd # 66 pick . that is kinda where i am with the receivers that i like in that area . but there are others like D.J. HALL , JORDY NELSON , KEENAN BURTAN and some others that i need to slide into spots , but if the rams get a WR , it better be one that is 6-2 -to 6-5 210lb - 240lb .

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
I think we can't start looking at WR in round two. We already have three big-money guys in the lineup, and we have many more pressing needs to look at first.
You never know what can happen in the draft though. Look at Antonio Pittman from last year. Nobody really expected him to fall that low, but he did. It all depends...

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
I also dont feel the Rams are quite so desperate at WR that they should be talking round 2 pick at that spot...not THIS year anyhow. The real GEM at WR will be available in next years draft in the person of Ramses Barden. Not a speed burner but at 6' 6" 225 with great hands, he doesnt need to be.

Re: Someone to keep an eye on
I'd rather have Adarius Bowman 6'3 and a half 220 and 4.4 speed with good hands even though the refs took a td away from him at the senior bowl. We need to start adding wr's that cause matchup problems for corners and Bowman I think could be special. If he's there in the 3rd I say we get him.
