    Sosa's WR Ratings

Before we start, let me say a few things. I watched at least 3 tapes on each of the guys I have here. I've also created my own "rating" system (not difficult or complex at all). I did this to help separate the guys and make it easier for people to see what I think as they now have a numerical value. With that being said, these are probably subject to change as well as new additions may be added. With that being said, let's fire it up!

    1. Kelvin Benjamin, WR, FSU:
    6'5, 234 lbs
    Grade: 84.0

    • Notes:
    • Looks like an NFL player
    • Very tough blocker
    • Nice set of hands
    • Very tough to bring down
    • Spectacular in the air
    • Wins all jump balls

    2. Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson:
    6'1, 205 lbs
    Grade: 83.0

    • Notes:
    • Great hands, amazing speed
    • 110% effort, great blocker
    • Very tough guy; good blocker
    • Excells at screens, can elevate HIGH
    • Amazing YAC and breakaway ability
    • Can he be a #1 WR?

    3. Jarvis Landry, WR, LSU:
    6'1, 195 lbs
    Grade: 80.5

    • Notes:
    • Excellent route runner
    • Best hands in college football
    • Very quick in and out of breaks
    • Effective vs press coverage
    • Mean streak, tough player
    • Is he fast enough to create consistent separation?

    4. Allen Robinson, WR, Penn State:
    6'3, 203 lbs
    Grade: 80.5

    • Notes:
    • Strong hands, hands catcher
    • Great YAC from screens
    • Creates good separation
    • Good speed, very nifty
    • Can he beat press coverage?
    • Any jump ball ability?

    5. Brandon Coleman, WR, Rutgers:
    6'6, 220 lbs
    Grade: 80

    • Notes:
    • Massive size
    • Can elevate and get the ball
    • Decent speed, good hands
    • Shields defenders
    • Great against press man
    • Can he develop the route tree?

    6. Marqise Lee, WR, USC:
    6'0, 195 lbs
    Grade: 79

    • Notes:
    • Ran array of routes
    • Will kill you in open field
    • Soft hands, long strider
    • Great deep speed
    • Tough player, mean blocker
    • Do we get the 2012 or 2013 Lee?

    7. Mike Evans, WR, TA&M:
    6'5, 225 lbs
    Grade: 74

    • Notes:
    • Beats press coverage
    • Willing blocker
    • Good hands, wins jump balls
    • Great deep threat
    • Great at "improv"
    • Can he mature and stay in-check?

    8. Jordan Matthews, WR, Vanderbilt:
    6'3, 204 lbs
    Grade: 72

    • Notes:
    • Plucks ball in the air, strong hands
    • Decent speed
    • Very tough, goes over the middle of the field
    • Shields defenders with big body
    • Ran lots of routes
    • Deep threat
    • Can he add weight and be a #1/2?

I Like Benjamin, but I'd bet the farm that on draft day, the guys getting paid to do this, will draft Evans and Watkins first, then Lee, Benjamin, Robinson, Adams, Cooks, Coleman

That's not to say that the third and fourth round WRs in this strong draft won't have some emerge as stars, but it's all about amount of risk for each player, as well as upside.

100% agreed. Evans will most definitely be a high draft pick. I just worry about can he get it mentally. I also would like to see more of him in press man coverage. Every catch he has he seems to have a massive gap of space between him and the CB, which is obviously good, but it won't be like that in the NFL.

Benjamin has elite size, and I believe he'll run fairly well. I do think his route-tree is pretty limited at this point, though.

He's a guy I think could use another year in college.

most likely the 2012 lee will show up since he'll be able to get healthy

haven't seen anyone banged up like lee was and still perform at the top of their game so i wouldn't worry too much about the 2013 season

we'll see how he performs before the draft

    Re: Sosa's WR Ratings

I certainly agree that Sammy and Kelvin are the best two WR in the draft. Sammy, because he is already NFL ready, and Kelvin because he is a physical nightmare match-up (would love to see him against Richard Sherman) and I believe, has the most upside.

The Rams couldn't go wrong either way IMO.

    Re: Sosa's WR Ratings

I believe Benjamin is better than Evans. If Benjamin is available when we pick at Round 2, I would love to grab him.

Hell, if Sammy Watkins is available at #13, I'd grab him AND Benjamin.

    Re: Sosa's WR Ratings

If I'm picking any WRs in this draft, it's either Benjamin/Coleman because they offer something we don't have with massive size and potential, or a guy like Watkins or Landry; two guys with the surest of hands.

They're gonna ride the pine and play ST, like they should be. NFL stands for not for long, and if you don't produce and actually regress, expect to be replaced.

    makes sense

though i would like to see them have more shots before they just "ride the pine"

    the potential is still there

also: watching the orange bowl, though clemson plays ACC opponents, and that usually makes me question players, but sammy watkins is just really consistent and just plays well often and probably the 2nd best in the open field behind marqise lee...but going to be a good receiver nontheless

i mean he's got dreads...that automatically means he's good lol

By far Watkins best game of the year is his last game in college.

helps that it's against ohio state's "defense"

but again...always brings it, so it's him being good rather than easy D

Neither of these teams can play D. With Roby out OSU is even worse than normal.

    Re: Sosa's WR Ratings

Watkins put ON! I expect it though. Watching his film I was so "wowed". He has HUGE potential. He plays much bigger than his size out there too. He makes lots of plays out of nothing. If he can get a good WR coach that can help teach him little things like hands use/placement and little nuances like that, Watkins will be a top 10 WR in the league. He isn't much different than Julio Jones. Watkins has the 2 most important/un-teachable things: Amazing hands; he plucks the ball out of the air, and top level speed/acceleration.
