strong safety, who is out there

I think chaveous is one of the worst starting strong safeties in the league. Who is out there that can help us. For that matter, who did we pass in round 2 that might have helped us. I think we would have taken (or at least might have taken) kenny phillips if he had dropped another couple of picks

I really hope they draft a SS this year GC I've been waiting patiently the last couple of years.

Go Rams

Josh Barrett of Arizona State would be my top guy.

Re: strong safety, who is out there

Corey Lynch, Appalachian State

Here's an excerpt from his NFL.com profile:
Quote:
Not since the playing days of All-American linebacker Dexter Coakley (1993-96) has a Mountaineer defensive player made the type of impact Lynch did at Appalachian State. A consummate playmaker, he ranks among the all-time leaders in NCAA Division 1-AA/Championship Subdivision history in tackles, blocked kicks, interceptions, interception return yardage and passes defended.

Lynch also ranks among the Southern Conference and school all-time elite in fumbles forced and fumbles recovered. He is the first ASU player to lead the team in interceptions all four seasons and the first Mountaineer to gain over 100 yards on interception returns in three seasons.
He's a very solid tackler with a knack for forcing turnovers. He has less than ideal speed and played in Div 1-AA, but we could probably get him in the sixth or seventh round or as a UDFA.

Re: strong safety, who is out there

i voted for barrett. i think he helps us more than connor. Is connor really better than culberson? I have no problem with connor if that is the guy we take, but we have a glaring need at ss and aside from being lousy, chaveous is the last guy left in the league (at least if you dont count the kickers and punters) that played in the AFL.

Re: strong safety, who is out there

Corey Lynch, Appalachian State. He played both safety spots. Very Productive career at App State.

Re: strong safety, who is out there

I've watched my fair share of ASU games and Josh Barrett was the guy that always stood out on defense. Strong, quick and exuding a commanding presence on the field that his entire team fed off of, IMO he's going to be one of those smart, confident guys with the ability to step right into the NFL and make an immediate impact.

Re: strong safety, who is out there

I didn't watch any ASU games this year. I was hoping that Kenny Phillips would have fallen to us in round two, but alas, it wasn't meant to be.

No votes for DaJuan Morgan eh? I'm surprised that you guys are so high on Josh 'injury prone" Barrett.

Re: strong safety, who is out there

I like DaJuan Morgan, but I just don't see us taking him unless he's somehow still on the board in the fourth. Likewise, I don't really see us taking Barrett.

Re: strong safety, who is out there

If Rams are Addressing OT & LB Later in Draft . I like Reggie Smith played Safety & CB in College . You never know he could turn out being a shut down CB . I'm still hopefull for a LB in Dan Conner or Beau Bell .
No OT Carl Nicks Caracter issues.
