The "Ten Foot Pole" List (Version 2.0)
Here's my updated list of players I don't want to draft, period.
Malcolm Kelly, WR, Oklahoma
Health concerns might drop him to the second round, but I don't want the Rams to be the team that take a chance on this guy. I've read reports suggesting that his injuries might be chronic.
Early Doucet, WR, LSU
He might be a decent NFL possession receiver, but he is exactly what the Rams' WR corps don't need. Not a deep threat and, quite possibly, a guy who's abilities just won't transfer to the pro game.
Sam Baker, OT, USC
He's a guy I've had on my radar, but after reading about his Pro Day (slow and stiff), I see the words "PRODUCT OF THE SYSTEM" tattooed on his forehead.
Colt Brennan, QB, Hawaii
He'll almost certainly be available in the late rounds given his poor performance at the Senior Bowl and his hip injury. Still don't want him.
Calais Campbell, DE, Miami (FL)
If we want a tall, 290 lb. DE, we already have one who is faster, quicker, stronger and more athletic than the Calais "Underachiever" Campbell.
Tommy Blake, DE, TCU
At one point in his college career, he was viewed as a potential first round pick. Does anyone want him now? Medical and psychological issues, not to mention a weight problem, have made him a huge risk.
Steve Justice, C, Wake Forest
He'll probably go in the 3rd to 5th round, given the lack of highly rated centers, but I think he's got bust written all over him. He is undersized, and was thrown around like a rag doll by Sedrick Ellis in the Senior Bowl.

Re: The "Ten Foot Pole" List (Version 2.0)
And here I was about to start a thread about Malcom Kelly. Oh well, hopefully some team in then 20's will think otherwise and take him, so that another WR falls to us.
Mayock's latest mock on NFL.com has both Sweed and Kelly falling out of the first. Baker might now be a late first round pick, bit I still say he grades out in the mid second. I agree with the pole assessment.
I'd take a 7th round flyer on Brennan, he may be a bit of a system QB, but any guy who routinely puts up Madden-like numbers can have a spot recreating the GSOT in my book.

Re: The "Ten Foot Pole" List (Version 2.0)
I might have to add Mario Manningham and Aquib Talib.
Let's just say their chances of going early in the draft have gone up in smoke.

According to ProFootballWeekly, they may be WEEDED out by several teams.

Re: The "Ten Foot Pole" List (Version 2.0)
I definitely agree on Baker and Campbell. Not so sure on Doucet, though. It seems like he was a deep threat up until he got injured during his senior year. His average in 2007 was 4 yards/carry less than any other year in his career. The fact that he timed around 4.54 in the 40 isn't great, but some guys don't know the little things you can do to maximize speed on a track. It's still enough of an issue that I'd look into it if I was a Rams scout, but not enough of an issue that I'd take him off the list entirely. It would probably depend on whether I saw anything when he was running that looked like it was costing him time, i.e. if he didn't come off the sprinters' blocks well.

Talib was a good citizen at Kansas the whole time he was there. I'm not sure one lapse in judgement is enough to cause teams to stay far away from him.
