Testing the water on a trade on draft day
Phins take Matt Ryan QB, Rams start getting calls for a trade. A team wants to move up and grab McFadden at two. Would you trade back too the number six spot for a second round pick? The Rams would get either, Chris Long, Jake Long, Glenn Dorsey or Vernon Gholston.

Not just a 2nd rounder.
We are moving back four spots, we would get a very high second round pick.Glenn Dorsey or Vernon Gholston, and we get two seconds. Wow this would make for a very nice first day. Could have a great DE Gholston, Get OL help and a WR in the second round. Not counting the third round pick could have...LB in the 3rd. Wow...

If we go back, Gholston would be a great pick. We should get another pick in return instead of just their #1.
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
...Obviously, then what would be the point of swapping 1sts?

trading back we would get more picks which means more young production on the field or it allows us to trade back into the first round..
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
Several people, myself included, have been singing the KC trade up senario for Jake Long. Regardless, for an additional #2, I'd personally jump all over the chance to get into the #5 or #6 overall spot and out of the #2 overall spot, but with one caviot.........Chris Long would have to have been picked with the #1.
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
yeah Chris Long can be an immediate impact player. I would consider the trade if he is not there as the rest grade about the same when one considers need and value.

Ofcourse, I would only take the trade if Chris Long is gone.
Still, trading away to get multiple picks, say in the second round, we can still draft young starters there...
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
with say the 5th pick in round 1,the 2nd & 5th in Round 2 we could possibly take...
1st Vernon Gholston
2nd Kenny Phillips
2nd Gosdar Cherilus
3rd WR
4th & 5th TRADE for Lito Sheppard
try and trade Byrd & Brown, maybe Wroten(tho i wouldnt mind giving him one more season,he DOES have ability) for second day picks and look at a true run blocking hammer of a FB and a SAM prospect!
if all those fell into place...we could be challenging for the NFC west again, next year!
that being said if Chris Long is available...we pick him,end of story!
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
It'd be tempting, but if Chris Long is on the board, it's going to take more than a second round pick to get me to move down. And if you're moving down to five or six, you've basically assured yourself that you're not getting either Long and depending on which way Oakland goes may not get Gholston either.
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
No.
You're putting yourself out of reach of at least Chris and Jake Long, and potentially Gholston, too. What happens then? You've essentially blown your first round.
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
If Chris Long's available, then any team wanting to trade up better be prepared to pay full value on the trade chart. If Long's not available, then it's let's make a deal time, and I'd probably take either next year's 1st or this year's second for the move.
Re: Testing the water on a trade on draft day
i just nutted to the thought of getting Gholston,Phillips,Cherilus and Lito Sheppard on the same day. with a 3rd round pick still there.
