He has gotten so much crap about it

Let him have the chance to prove whether he can lead a team or not.
Most people that are against vick really dont care that he spent time in jail, im not really worried about that, he served time it over.

But we dont need the rams to be the team to experiment with this guy as starter. We already have a serious deficiency at QB. I dont wanna bring in a gimmick qb to be starter. He wasnt even that good at QB when he was in his prime.

Atogwe is a must-sign. He needs to be on this team for a long time to come. I'd love Mike Vick to come to this team, but he didn't exactly have that much success in Atlanta. He took them to the playoffs a couple times but I'm not sure he has the weapons here to do it. Chester Taylor would be nice, but if we don't get him it's okay. I like the Osi Umenyora trade idea, but it wouldn't happen. Suh is a good draft pick, but I'm not so sure that McCoy is very good. I'd rather have Vick with Null and Reilly backing him up. I also like the Gilyard idea, but I'm not sure he'd be around that late.

Personally I would like it if we went:

Round 1: Jimmy Clausen, QB, Notre Dame
Round 2: Mike Iupati, G, Idaho

I know the first pick isn't a very popular pick. Honestly, I would absolutely LOVE to have Suh on our team...the dude is a beast, however, I think Clausen is the better pick for us. Spags can get his defensive lineman talent in the later rounds, he's good at that. We should use our top pick to get a Franchise Quarterback, then use the second pick to protect him. Iupati is a beast...

That would be very good. I'm very high on Iupati. I think he's a great guard, and would be a very physical presence on our line.

Plus, he's a major upgrade over Incognito, and all of our other guards in run blocking, AND pass blocking.

Would Gilyard be available in the 3rd round. If so I would love that move but from watching him play he seems to be better than a 3rd round talent.

    Re: THOLTFAN81's Off-Season Mock

    Here are my issues:
    - Mike Vick. He has never been a quarterback and never will be a quarterback. He's a running back with a half decent arm. He makes his plays with his feet, not with his arm. We need a quarterback with an arm. Period. End of story

    - Osi. Even if the Giants are a little disgruntled with his play, their is no way they let him go for a 4th and a 5th round pick. They know how talented he is and what the market for quality defensive linemen are. They would let him go for a 3rd and 4th minimum, probably closer to 2nd and a 3rd.

Love the first two picks though. That would be a dream draft in my eyes. Getting a dominating presence on the defensive line and getting Colt who is arguably the most accurate short to mid range quarterback, exactly where we are going to be throwing the ball.

As for the talk of getting Mike Iupati, I just don't see it happening. He is just way too good to slip to the second. Some power running team will snap him up in the first, thinking along the lines of Dallas, Pittsburg, Baltimore, Tennessee, maybe even Chicago. Even if he is their in the 2nd I think we have to pass and take a quarterback. I don't like what is available in free agency, and not thrilled with the first round talent in this years draft. Second round is the perfect time to get talent, fill a need, and get BPA.

Who said we would experiment with Vick?

We take him in treat him like he is just another QB. We are not going to change out entire playbook and make him a gimmik QB.

Most likely he will be released so the rams can pick him up for about 2-3 mill and let him earn a starting job. Match him up against Bulger make the decision by week 1 and if Vick is better drop Bulger.

We are not GIVING anything to Mike Vick except an opportunity. I am willing to see if Mike Vick can EARN his spot.

Does vick pass the 4 pillars test?

    1) Faith

Mike Vick has been trying to earn playing time this hole season and the Eagles have enough faith to give him goal line opportunities even though he was formally known as a turnover machine. I think he has enough faith in himself to get out on his grind everyday.

    2) Character

I think we have a pretty good understanding of Vick's character when we see him playing even though there's haters everywhere he goes. Vick is going out there and zoning out the boos and trying to make a play. Vick's character is improving

    3) Core Values

In case you guys do not know Vick will be one of the team captains this week. In all the interviews he saying the he is doing everything he can to help his team win a superbowl. There are also reports that he is the last one to leave practice.

    4) Team First

In interviews he is talking about helping the team. He is always thanking D-Nabb. I'd don't see selfishness in him. He is building enough Chemistry that he doesn't even seem like a distraction. Remember in July we were all saying he would be a distraction we he isnt.

VICK deserves an opportunity and with our QB situation he would have a really good opportunity to get back to being a starting QB.

    Vick.....
    No way!!!!

Not a QB. Not in his prime. Not a Team player. Not a winner. Not a leader. I could go on...

Obviously you know nothing about the Philidelphia Eagle Mike Vick

I live in NJ and the Eagles get alot of coverage here

Also how is Vick not a winner he won in atlanta and his eagles are going to the playoffs this year

Not a QB? I thought if you lined up behind Center, called the play, had the mic, you were a QB. He did not get a position change he is a QB

most of the Rams players are either 3 years away or 3 years past their prime

Not a leader or team player in Atlanta but with the eagles he is working harder than ever and becoming captain.

And yes go on because your stab at vick is irrelevant

Ya he seems like a four pillars guy, thats not my problem. He has never been a real good QB and thats my problem, he relies on his athleticism, that will only decline as he gets past 30. He is a good enough person in my eyes dont have an argument there, but i think our money can be spent better elsewhere on an decent qb like campbell and try to make him better. Or a game manager like pennington, and let our second round draft pick develop behind him.

On a side note, I dont really see bulger here next year. He adimitted this was his last chance, he didnt pass the test. I still think he is a great QB but his time in st. louis is over.

    See my argument here is:
Vick has a better career record, and better stats in almost every category and a better td-int ratio. Also Campbell will only be 2 years younger then Vick next year. I think it's going to surprise a lot of Rams fans when Vick is a Ram next season.

Also adding to my Osi theory..I don't know if ya'll saw the interview after the Giants game today but here it is:

“I’m about to say something that would get me really messed up,” the Giants’ defensive end said following the team’s embarrassing 41-9 defeat to the Panthers, “so I’m just going to leave now.”

    Too late.

In response to the previous question — an inquiry about when this game got away from the Giants — Umenyiora vented his frustrations with playing only a handful of snaps and hinted his time with the team could soon be over.

And this came after he was seen yelling at defensive line coach Mike Waufle on the sideline Sunday.

“What did I play, five snaps today?” said Umenyiora, who was demoted from a starter to a pass-rush specialist after the Thanksgiving loss to the Broncos. “I don’t know, I don’t know what happened. I thought I was the problem.

“It’s an unbelievable situation, man. Last game at Giants Stadium, probably as a Giant, just the way everything has unfolded has been unbelievable.”

Unless Umenyiora knows something about the team’s plans to deactivate him next week, Sunday was not his final game as a Giant.

But perhaps he meant it would be his final home game, which means he’s anticipating a trade, his release or a holdout on his part until he gets one of the first two. Umenyiora is signed through the 2012 season, so the Giants probably don’t plan on cutting him loose without any compensation.

    Unless he forces their hand.

“I couldn’t really explain what I’m feeling right now. Disappointment is an understatement, in everything,” the two-time Pro Bowl selection said. “The way everything has played out this year has been absolute nonsense; very disappointed, disheartened, discouraged, whatever you want to call it. I feel all those emotions.”
