If we can get an upgrade to help us stop the run, then our pass rush will improve. If our pass rush improves, our secondary improves. I believe with this new staff that the players are gonna improve on their own, such as James Butler helping Tye Hill get his game back after a few injuries he had to struggle with. I have no doubt that Tye Hill can be our other starting corner. But it's gonna take some work. CB is a need of ours, but I don't see us taking one in the first 4 rounds. Too many other major holes- OT, MLB, DT, WR.... then comes CB.

I think our entire Defense is dreadful. Football Outsiders DVOA showed it as EPICALLY awful. We can upgrade at DT, MLB, OLB, CB and DE. Arguably at SS too.

You can argue that by having a better CB (and Butler) the opposition QB will have to take longer to find an open man, and therefore give the pass-rush more time to get to him...

I agree that under the new coaching staff players will improve. My mock draft represents the fact that the CB and WR classes are deeper than the DT and MLB classes. At 2.3 we might miss the top prospects at DT and MLB and be left with 3rd/4th round talent, so will pick a CB or WR there.... I don't disagree with our needs, I'm just 'mocking' on value and BPA theory
