First, I don't really care about "draft history." The fact that Fisher has not drafted an OL in Round 1 simply does not prove that he would not if the right circumstances presented themselves.

I'm also not sure what you mean by "early" in the thread title. It seems like you are saying that "early" for an OT would be Round 1, while "early" for an OG would be Round 2.

    Okay...

So, could you see the Rams going in another direction in Round 1 (let's say, Clowney or Watkins at No. 2, and Clinton-Dix, Dennard or Evans at NO. 13), and then going:

Round 2: Morgan Moses, OT, Virginia
Round 3: Gabe Jackson, OG, Mississippi State

Because... I'd be okay with a strategy like that (not necessarily my first choice, but I wouldn't be opposed to it).

If you are, instead, suggesting that the Rams should not/will not take an OL until Day 3 (Rounds 4-7), I disagree and hope you are wrong.

Nope, I think that would be horrible, and I don't think they will do that.

I think it will be more like the other option you said, taking a tackle in the 2nd and a guard in the 3rd or something like that.

If we do some how get lucky and get Cleveland's two 1st rounders in a trade, I could see one of them being used on a tackle then.

I'd be disappointed as well; if the Rams don't draft at least two OLineman with our first 4 picks I'd be pretty upset

You require the Rams draft 2 offensive linemen in the first 3 rounds without knowing who they sign in free agency or resign from their current roster?

    That seems odd.

Certainly, FA has the potential to modifiy draft plans in a significant manner.

Will the Rams retain their FA OL? (Saffold, Williams)
Will the Rams released any veteran OL? (Dahl, Wells)
Will the Rams sign any veteran OL? (Mack, Oher)

I think that most who are advocating taking an OL (or 2) early believe that Dahl, Wells or both will be released, that Saffold probably won't return, and that the Rams, at best, will sign one FA starting OL.

A young oline is what I would love to see.

I'm still holding out hope that Saffold is re-signed, but I think that Dahl and Wells are as good as gone. Hopefully Barrett Jones can slide in and play Center, and if the Rams we're able to get either Matthews or Robinson in the 1st and one of the David Yankey/Cyril Richardson/Gabe Jackson trio in the 2nd or 3rd round I'd be a happy fan.

I understand what you are saying with Saffold but I'd just as soon cut ties with him. He's a very good player who just can't stay healthy. I look at it the same as with Amendola last year. He was great for the Rams, when he was able to stay on the field. I'm glad in the end we didn't spend that kind of money to keep him in Horns. I don't want to regret paying Saffold next year. It's one thing I noticed looking up salary cap issues on a site. We spent more money on Quintin Mikell dead money than Seattle had for all their dead money total. We were over 12 million total in it. Hoping Snead and company can turn that problem we had with other regimes around.
