Toby Gerhart
I just heard this on my local sports radio, the Ticket here in Dallas.
A scout said of Toby Gerhart, "If he was black he'd be a top 20 pick. He's like a SJackson type, no blazing speed, but muscles over people. The guy is a beast"
Lets say he slips to the fourth round. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm? Do we take him?
Sorry to interject race, but it was a quote regarding white running backs (Alstott, Hester, etc.)

Re: Toby Gerhart
Gerhart is listed at 230 lbs. and ran a 4.53. Jackson is about 236 and ran a 4.45.
I guess there is some similarity there, but I don't think their styles compare that much.
Gerhart is a classic downhill runner. He does not have great moves, but he finds the holes and finishes well.
Jackson can run inside or outside, and has the speed to break big runs. In some ways, he runs like a small back in a big back's body.
I'm not touching the racial bias thing... let's just say that if Gerhart does succeed, he could alter the perceptions of some.

Re: Toby Gerhart
Ive heard this as well and foudn it ridiculously silly, though i dont doubt some scouts think that. I wouldn't mind Gerhart at all in the fifth. He is just a classic downhill bruiser that won't last 10 years in the NFL with the way he takes punishment. Jackson is faster and more agile that bulls peeple over just aas well with about 4-5 more pounds. Its not race, its just fact. He's just not worth a first round pick. A second round perhaps. but not for the Rams.

Re: Toby Gerhart
I see next to no way T. Gerhart slips to the 4th round. I have him going late 2nd or early 3rd at this point.
However, should he be there at the top of the 4th I'd run/sprint to the podium to grab him.
WHAT SAY YE?

Re: Toby Gerhart
There are a bunch of RBs I like in Rounds 3 and 4, including Gerhart, Montario Hardesty, Ben Tate and Joe McKnight.

Re: Toby Gerhart
Toby Gerhart does not get enough respect in draft discussions. I dont think he will go before the third round, IMO he is a top quality back who SHOULD go in the early second.

Re: Toby Gerhart
Well, if Jax doesn't mind giving up some touchdowns, I could easily see this guy as a short yardage specialist for us, in addition to giving him a spell from time to time. However, we have a lot of holes to fill and I'd much rather take a later round flier on a prospect rather than the pick we'd have to use on Gerhart(#33). I seriously doubt that he'll still be there on the start of day 3, and if he is, we should trade out of the pick to someone who is desperate to grab him, like the Jets were last year for their rookie back.

Re: Toby Gerhart
I'd take Ben Tate before Gerhart, but im definetely not opposed to Gerhart, it has to be a fifth rounder however for me, he just doesn't SEEM to offer enough for me. I could be wrong but meh...
