Kipers' uncool little brother recently reconfigured his top 5 picks in the draft and came up with some interesting results. If anyone hasn't seen them:

Detroit: Matt Stafford
Us: Jason Smith
KC: Aaron Curry
Scavengers: B.J. Raji
Cleveland: Everette Brown

He had Crabtree falling down to Oaktown at #7. I don't really recall how on the mark he was with any of his predictions last year, but I thought it was interesting none-the-less.

If Rams select J. Smith OT He'll be a back up 1st year. I don't think he could beat out Pace or Barron.

The title of the thread made me laugh for some reason. Maybe it's because I pictured him when I read it.

I really think that this guy doesn't know what he's talking about right now, and is just guessing. Nobody has worked out or done anything to change their stock between this mock and his last one. I think it's all one big conspiracy between draft guys to just keep switching it around, to keep us tuned in...

I just dont see how McShay gives us J.Smith or how anyother mock does.

in the begging Bill Deavany said (and i dont perfectly quote) "We are going to a have bigger more physical team"

J.Smith is athletic and not that physical so why would we take him. At the end it will come down to:

Crabtree: Big WR 6-3 and very physical
A. Smith: Fat kid who is physically dominanent in the run.
Eugene Monroe: Big tall guy that do both pass and run protect.

(i dont see us taking curry cuz we will address that this off-season, and BJ Raji is great but there is value in Brace in the 3rd round)

The concern with A. Smith is the notion that he might be an interior lineman in the NFL. A great OG, but not a franchise LT. I'm not advocating one way or the other, just saying that is the current concern.

J.Smith is athletic and not that physical so why would we take him.

I'm not sold yet, but don't give up on Jason Smith just yet. He has the frame to get bigger and though he played in a "finesse" offense, Smith is a block finisher when called upon to do so. This guy has the mean streak to be a solid anchor.

I don't think this team should shell out another 50+million dollars on a lineman,we need to spend that money on a big time playmaker and thats why I say Crabtree.

But the $50 million lineman might help our existing big time playmakers function better.

I'd prefer the pick going to a lineman simply for this reason. If a lineman is a bust at LT, he can always shuffle inside and learn another position. All hope isn't lost on linemen, they are multi-purpose. If you drop oodles of money on a WR and he's a bust, you're stuck with that.
Why not make the sensible pick and go with what we need, protection.
