Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
In his new Mock Todd McShay has the Rams taking Gerald McCoy instead of Suh. Do you think this is him just trying to drum up controversy. Is there anyway other than trading down do you see McCoy going before Suh?

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
I think he could just be trying to be unique and get people to read it, but I also think this may be a case of teams moving prospects up and down the draft boards as prospects are over-analysed. I believe Avenger wrote an article similar to this a while back about teams/fans not sticking with game film and who should be the pick after the season is over.
Edit: I could be mistake about the nature of the article, but I would like to ask McShay what has changed between now and his last mock that makes McCoy a better player.Last edited by AtlantaRamFan; -02-10-2010 at 04:59 PM.

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
This seems to be a growing opinion, with at least one other pundit claiming McCoy to be the better of the two. My question is, is there any new material to judge these two with? I don't believe either played in the Senior Bowl, had their pro day, participated in the combine. What's the deal? What has suddenly changed? They can't be getting this all from game tape, or else they would see Suh absolutely dominating everyone he came across, racking up stats comparable to entire defensive lines. Unless they're conveniently ignoring that

It's going to be a long, painful offseason.Last edited by shower beers; -02-10-2010 at 05:03 PM.

I think he believes McCoy is a better fit for the Rams. He's not necessarily better than Suh...I don't know, I don't see why we'd have to screw this pick up.

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
Both are unbelievable...I have to admit that McCoy was my hope before the last cfb season.
Now I prefer Suh, but I will also recognize that some of the hype Suh has is from a few awe inspiring moments (interceptions, etc.) that McCoy did not have, that left people saying "did a DT really just do that", and that are not necessarily pertinent.
However, on a down to down basis the two are fairly close, really in mind this could come down to intangibles.
(Or even worse contractual demands, but that is a long ways away, everything is speculation at this point.)

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
McShay is notourious for trying to stir the pot right before the combine.
The combine will change alot but the Rams will 99% not be taking McCoy.
Suh, Jimmy C, Sam B -- thats our options barring a trade.
No combine will change that

Stirring the pot. I would renounce my loyalties if this happened.

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
lol what bullcrap suh has triple the stats of mccoy, suhs juinor year he even had triple the stats of mccoy this year. In reality, if mccoys a better pass rusher? why does suh have 24 qb hurries 12 sacks 24 tackles for loss and interception and 10 passes blocked?

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
I suspect it's a move to try and be different and create some buzz. McShay's current justification is that McCoy is quicker and more disruptive, and that Spags is looking for defensive linemen who can penetrate. Yet in his first mock, McShay described Suh as "a disruptive run defender with the arm strength to toss aside blockers and the quickness to make plays behind the line of scrimmage." McShay's group, Scouts Inc, still has Suh rated higher than McCoy, for what that's worth.

This guy is always trying to get people to fight each other. Next week, Dez Bryant will be our pic according to McShay. Just never really liked his analysis on things. =/
This being proof, I again have to disagree with his opinion.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Devaney, if you care about this team... fire the offensive coordinator!!!!

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
I concur, McShay is renowned for making brash or unusual mock draft selections. Take no heed, he's trying to be different. With that said, I wouldn't exactly go to Mel Kiper for my draft advice, either. Both seem to favour flashy, flavour of the month picks which don't do much to address team need or consider the best talent available.

In today's 24 news cycle, you must manufacture news when there isn't real news to report. Otherwise, you don't get your weekly spot on ESPN and you don't get the big paycheck.
Nothing to see here, move along.

Re: Todd McShay has Rams taking Gerald MCCoy
McCoy has a different style of play than Suh.
Suh just tries to manhandle people where as McCoy has DT moves and plays the position more traditionally.
If Spags thinks McCoy is a better fit, I wouldn't mind trading down to the second spot and getting McCoy. (Convincing TB, we might be doing it for a QB and get McCoy)
