Todd McShay's mid-season mock draft has the Rams taking...

    Stephen Paea DT, Oregon State

He used the records as of today and had the Rams takin Paea with the 13th pick in the draft. (AJ Green and Akeem Ayers were off the board)

This is an interesting pick. Paea is not the type of player that will have a good sack total nor does he have good pass rush skills.

But he is the definition of a 4 pillar player. Great work ethic, Chris Long-like motor, great tackler, nose for the ball carrier, even-though he wont put up sack numbers he is disruptive and can force double teams.

Reminds me of the Jaguar's pick of Tyson Alualu.

However, although how much he fits into the "4 pillar" description, I don't think a player like him would be the most optimal choice for us. We need an explosive playmaker, one that other teams have to plan against.

Honestly i dont think this a bad pick (no itz not the best either) spags takes the Best Player at a position need but also has to fit the 4 pillars.

He is a bit undersized. But what i love about him is his hard work and intangibles with spags coaching him he can maximize his potential.

A huge playmaker would be nice but picture 2 disruptive linemen with high intesity motors on the same line (Long and Paea)

I watched McShay earlier today as well , and I thought he made several intersting statements, but I don't know how he came up with this one. We need a WR & I just knew he was going to say Julio Jones.....I wonder who he'll have us taking in the 2nd round?

Interesting. I checked out Great Blue North today (updated Nov 9th), and they have us in the 21st spot, a playoff spot! I suppose they must be under the assumption that we will win our division, as we are currently the leaders.

Walter Football has us taking this guy, but in the second round.

I have to believe that right now it would be:

    1. A.J. Green
    2. Julio Jones
    3. Jonathan Baldwin or best 4-3 pass rusher (DE, DT or maybe OLB)

Based on McShay's projection, if the Rams were taking a DT in the 10-20 range of the first round, I'd rather them grab Nick Fairley at this point.

Please not another 1st Round DT. I believe we have bigger holes and Spags can find another DT via free agency if need be.
