Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
agreed. Interior help will make Long better then we can get a situational pass rusher in the 3rd.
Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
If the Rams traded for Haynesworth could they afford to pay him. Isn't he one of the highest paid players in the NFL. HIs salary this year I think is twenty million dollars. Then take the Bradford contract possibly 80 million with 50 million gaurented.
I'm always in favor of taking a young proven player over a unproven rookie. Haynesworth is 29 years old he might have a good four or five years remaining in the tank. He turns 30 next year 6/17/1981.
He would look great as a Ram :D.
Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
I'd rather work out a swap of 2nds with the Giants for Osi... I think an impact pass rusher would help the team way more than a lazy, fat, DT.
Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
I'd hope that we could get more in return. I know the Redskins don't have a 2nd round pick, but a #33 for a roughly 30-year-old player coming off a disappointing year doesn't seem like the going rate. In the pure short-term analysis, no, none of the players remaining on the board are going to contribute as much. However, if we don't expect to be a playoff contender in the immediate future, giving up a second rounder isn't real practical.
Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
The fact is, you can't count on Hanesworth for 16 games, the Redskins are trapped with him, and he's not worth the 33rd pick anyway.
Now, if you want to start talking our 3rd round pick, maybe I'll listen.
Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
I dont think his salary is that high this year and i wasnt aware that he is 30. are you sure about that age wise? He got paid a fortune, but the bonus was paid up front and they recently made another huge payment to him. I think osi is well past his prime by the way. Haynesworth played out of position most of last year.

Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
How can you say that Hanesworth played out of position last year? He was still a 3 tech in the 4-3 with the Skins last year, just like he wants to play. The fact that they need to trade him this year is because he doesn't want to, nor is he suited to playing the nose in a 3-4, which they're switching to this year under our dear friend Haslett.
As for his salary, I think that I heard somewhere that he's due about 16 million over the next 3 years, so very affordable, actually.
Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
Would I make that trade? Probably.
Would the Rams make that trade? Maybe.
Would the Redskins make that trade? I doubt it.

My thoughts exactly. Plus how many good years does he have left? Three or four maybe?
Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
His salary is quite managable at about 16 mill over the next three years, he has already been paid his bonus of 21 mill, I think for that money I would jump on him, it would be great to have an elite DT, thats if he turns UP!!

Re: Trade 33 for haynesworth
Haynesworth will be 29 when the season starts, and Osi will turn 29 during the season. Haynesworth is in his 9th season, while Osi is in his 8th.
