My thoughts...
No surprise that Curry has held on to the top spot after a star performance at the Combine.
I'm also not surprised that Jason Smith has moved up, though I would not have guessed he would have passed Monroe just yet. Still, its a tight race at OT.
Andre Smith has dropped like a rock... right off our draft board.
Michael Crabtree dropped only a little despite his injury. I wonder if he'll drop more now that its confirmed that he won't run a pre-draft 40.
Maclin is now on our board, though I wonder if Darrius Heyward-Bey might be a better prospect.

The near fifty-vote difference between #3 and #4 indicates that, for Rams fans, this is essentially a three man contest right now. Crabtree is back to being the dark horse of the pack with Curry, Smith, and Monroe all as legit possibilities.

Well, I was close. I figured J. Smith would rise and A. Smith would drop, but I thought Monroe would overtake Curry at this point, based on reports (that I thought) coming out about Curry projected strictly to the outside of a 4-3. But I've yet to hear a report to that extent which is actually quite promising for those of us in the Curry Court.
Ultimately, I hope (1) DeSpags' board is identical to ours, and (2) they do not stray from their board on Draft day. That guarantees us either Curry or J. Smith.

If Curry can't play inside, that's a wasted draft pick for the Rams. If he can, then it's a no brainer. That's why Round 1 is such a crap shoot. So much money slinging around on "potential" or "projection". No wonder OT is the position most taken in Round 1 ( or close). It's the safest pick, you don't project out of OT.

I would really hate to see the Rams taking Curry!!
Cuz i think that CUrry=Witherspoon.
Both of there natural positions are on the outside. Both have about the same hieght and wieght. So in a year or two what if we face the same Witherspoon dilema and notice OLB is Curry best position and then were are temted to move Curry back to OLB?
Witherspoon did good at MLB, Im not saying Curry wont but his natural position is OLB. Witherspoon wants to move back to the outside and what if Curry gets injured then decides MLB is not his position. Then we will be at the same spot we are now. Not having a true MLB.
In my opinion i say we take a risk in the 5th round and take Jasper Brinley who was supposed to be the next best MLB. He is 6-2 275 pounds. However health is an issue. But we should take the risk.
For me it is a toss up between J. Smith and Eugene Monroe whoever looks better when the draft comes around. Right now it is Jason Smith because of the Bench press drills.

Well, you never know do you. BW may have a point. London Fletcher (moment of silence) was an undrafted FA out of John Carroll. He became the heart and soul of the defense, as all good MLB's do. Can Curry play the middle? Some say yes, but he hasn't yet.

Curry is 254. Spoon is about 240. Not the same.
Curry clearly has the size to play MLB. In his Combine interviews, he indicated that he is happy to line up at any LB position.
This issue will continue to be overstated, no doubt. To me, the bigger issue is whether Curry goes No. 1 to Detroit. I'm hoping that Stafford really wows them at his workout so they decide to go with a QB.

This isn't a knock on Curry I'm just curious because I don't know...
How much does a coach value a great or bad combine against their college career?
I may be wrong but I don't think many people had us going Curry before the combine so how does performing well in an uncontested format help so much?
Weightlifting - just because your strong doesn't mean you know how to properly use your strength.
40 - yes speed translates onto the field well but then again not many teams are knocking down Hester's door for him to join their receiver core.
Jumping - just because you can jump higher or further than someone doesn't mean you have the timing or instinct on when to jump.
Interview - I worked in television for many years... almost any idiot can be coached on how to answer the obvious questions. Why do you think so many pre or post game interviews of players sound the same.
Again I'm not knocking Curry just curious about the process.

It depends. You start with the game films. If a player looks great, and played against top competition, that's a pretty good indicator that he's a good prospect.
Still, there are some measurables that matter.
For example, if Curry weighed in at 235, ran a 4.8 in the 40, and peformed poorly on the bench, most would have dropped him out of the top 10 picks, and few would view him as a MLB (or even an SLB) prospect.
Instead, he weighed in at 254, ran below a 4.6 and did a good job on the bench. This indicates that what is seen on the game film is likely to translate well to the NFL.

It depends who you asked. Those that were paying attention have had him as a possibility for sometime now, well before the Combine.

Yea but on Game film we will still see him as a WLB not MLB. Yea he did do a good job at OLB like WItherspoon did. What if Curry wants to move back to OLB? Where do we go then??????
I would like to compare Aaron Curry to another Defensive stud fron last year's draft. Vernon Ghoulston. Gholston's game tape showed him as a OLB (i think) and then he got drafted as a DE. The did not work out too well.
What if we do draft Curry and then Beatty and Britton are already taken in the 1st? Where do we go from there?
Do you guys remember how we built a championship. We drafted Orlando Pace with the 1st pick in the 1998 draft.
