Using the trade value chart with Atlanta

Our #2 pick is worth 2600 pts and their #3 is worth 2200=400 difference.

The Falcons have three picks in round two and their #48 is worth 420 pts.

That would be as close as you could get to making it equal.

If this were done, you could get C. Long or Gholston at #3. J. Long and Dorsey are gone.

Then if you take the Rams pick #33 and their #48, you could select lbs like Connor or Groves, WR's like Hardy or Avery and a CB like Tyvone Branch.

How about this for two rounds:

1. Chris Long, DE
2. James Hardy, WR
3. Tyvone Branch, CB

Use the top of round 3 to get a OT. This would give the Rams a lot of options.

I like the sound of it, but I don't think the Falcons would be willing to trade with us. They'll happily take Matt Ryan if we take Dorsey, so...

exactly, Falcons will wait and see what Rams do:

1. Falcons take Dorsey (if he falls)
2. Falcons trade down with somebody for extra 2nd rounder
3. Falcons take Matt Ryan (if Dorsey taken by Rams and they can't trade)

those are the likely scenarios for Falcons. Trading up is not a "likely scenario".

I heard a rumor that a newer version of the value chart has been circulating in league circles, presumably because the contract demands lessen the desire to move up. To be honest, no matter what the chart says, I can't imagine the Falcons wanting Dorsey so bad they'd give up their first rounder and three second rounders.

Whenever I see one of these trade proposals, I really try to imagine whether I as a fan of the other team would think it was a good idea.

Goldenfleece. I didn't say they would give up three second rounders. I said they had three second rounders. They would move from pick 3 to pick 2 in round 1 and only give up one second round pick, #48 overall.

are you saying the FAlcons would give up three 2nd rounders and #3 overall? surely that is not what you meant to say, right? you meant #3 and one of their 2nd rounders, right?

regardless, the Falcons would not give up ANY of their 2nd rounders to move up one spot. Falcons would probably not even give up their 3rd rounder. If Falcons entertained moving up 1 spot - ONE! - it would be for a LATE 2nd day pick - of course, the Rams probably would not go for that.

there just is "no deal" to be made there. maybe if Rams were taking Chris Long anyway but gave enough of a bluff to Falcons to make the Falcons give up a 4th rounder - that is the "ceiling" for what I think you would see the Falcons give up.

trade is not gonna happen between Rams/Falcons - plain and simple.

I just misread the post, but, yeah, I don't think it would be worth it to them as long as they have any other options they'd be happy with (i.e. Matt Ryan).

It seems like the Falcons simply have too much to take from this draft to make a trade like that. I'd like it as a Rams fan, though. :)
