Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
Mad Mike never figure it out how to protect his QB, if he gets Davis he will have out in a pass route on every down.

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
Thats what we have been saying RamsFan16, he was the only offensive player I would take. How is a LB going to say with him, and if a FS can hang with him, he still needs to bring him down.

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
I know. He is also the only Offensive player I would take but we don't need to worry about that because he will be gone by #11

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
There are so many what if's right now. I wouldnt be shocked to see Davis fall. If he does fall, he will be a St.Louis Ram. Linehan is going by value and Davis will, by far, out value Michael Huff by the time the draft rolls around. Linehan wont pass on a TE that fast and that strong. Especially not when TE has been such a weak position.

Agreed. There's just no telling at this point. Somebody could have a stellar pro day. Somebody could do something stupid and get arrested. Detroit could take another receiver. The draft's too unpredictable to say something's definitely not going to happen.

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
I predict a lot of trading to take place, especially if Bush doesn't go first overall and someone like Vince Young begins to slip.
Basically it will be impossible to tell.
I would love for the rams to trade up to around the 8th or 9th pick if Mario Williams or AJ Hawk are still on the board

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
This is really three words and how can you say he is better than Winslow since Winslow has not played? I don't even see Winslow when I search the players. What is his story? Is he going to play? Did he recover?

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
v. davis would require that bulger pass more...unless davis can play the RB position as well...
how much more production can davis REALLY provide for the rams? a TD instead of a FG is always better, but even if davis can provide 16 TDs instead of settling for 16 FGs, it only means 64 more points, which is 4 more points per game...
i mean, the red zone inefficiency is why the ram fans are fixated on getting a better TE, isn't it?
meanwhile out porous defense will allow enough points to negate any positives provided by davis and his thunder thighs...

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
I would think Davis would provide more then just a few more points per game. He would create such a mismatch, for any LB trying to cover him that he would open up the field for Holt, Bruce and Jackson. He would be like Jeremy Shocky you would have to account for him on every play.
It also easier for a Defense to play aggressive with a lead, those red zone points are big.

Yes Davis is that good and if he is available, then the Rams will select him. It's kind of like upgrading from a mountain bike to a Ferrari. He is one of the best blockers in the draft. How would you not be happy with this pick? Excellent blocker who will end red zone woes and free Holt and Brude from double team. This also opens up the middle of the field for Jackson since a LB has to slide over to cover Davis at all times. The Roman and The Prince. Playmakers until the end.

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
I think you can make a decent argument as to why the Rams should take Davis if available (though I still think they should draft a defensive player).
I just don't think there is any chance that they would take Davis.

Re: Vernon Davis at the Combine
Just look at what Linehan has said. If we would go with need, I would not support the pick of Davis. Linehan has already said that the Rams will draft by value though, meaning that if Davis falls to #11, he will be a Ram.I just don't think there is any chance that they would take Davis. The Roman and The Prince. Playmakers until the end.
