Gholston looks good but what disturbed me about all those videos is how many times Jake Long was getting beaten or knocked on his arse even when he wasnt blocking Gholston. That video is not a ringing endorsement of Jake Long thats for sure!
Thank you for pointing that out, I would have never thought to look for him in that video. What you said is absolutely true, I can see why scouts are saying he isn't athletic enough to play LT after getting bull rushed and knocked over on three separate occurrances in that video. I really hope we do not take Jake Long.
What a rare draft that there are 2 great DE's to choose from and we have the chance to get one of them. If Gholston or Chris Long are not our first pick, I will be very disappointed.
I agree with RamFan_Til_I_Die, I will be very disappointed, if Gholston or Chris Long are not our first pick.
Great video. He had an amazing game against Michigan.

Vernon Gholston simply OWNS.
:rIf you want to get an on the field comparison , view Chris Long's u-tube Gator Bowl performance. The biggest difference is that though the announcers were on his jock the entire game, he rarely did anything spectacular. (3 tackles, 5 qb hurries, ) the entire game and he got player of the game,,,WOW!!!....VG closes the deal...he doesnt hurry the QB...he knocks the snot out of them....hummm ...nothing agianst effort....but it will never replace God given speed and strength...Please Rams and Ram fans.....Lets start the VG band wagon NOW....
Point #1 - Never make a decision based on a highlight video.
Point #2 - Gholston is God-like in that they both have shown a tendency to take Saturdays off.
I hope that the rams take him and i agree with Rammiser that Jake Long did not look good in that video at all
Just so you know that was the second sack the Jake gave up in his career, it just happened to be against Gholston and on the clip.Quote:

I agree 100%Quote:

I think you guys need to do some more research before you jump to conclusions about Long in a highlight video.
I can make it seem like Long gave up twenty sacks in that game if I use the same replay over and over with different camera angles. Highlights are just that, highlights. The fact of the matter is, he gave up less sacks in his college career than some tackles do in one game.
As for Gholston, yes, he was the one guy to beat him since his freshman year. Guess what, it happens. You take a bad angle, you stumble a bit, you give up a sack against an extraordinary athlete. What about the small time OT's that shut him down? Does that mean that they're Titan-like? That's pretty damn good for never even being considered for the NFL.
Teke, that's a great point. Washington, Minnesota, Purdue, Mich. St., and Illinois all shut him out this year. And the mighty line of Youngstown St. held him to half-a-tackle for loss.Quote:

This is what I'm talking about fellas! Sometimes (as in highlight videos), Gholston is dominant. Other times he disappears......for ENTIRE GAMES!
If he's the pick, which Gholston are we drafting?
