Re: Weaver too expensive, maybe Karney?
I hear he'll be visiting Rams Park tomorrow.
There's something fishy/thin about the one dimensional argument ,though. Evans is hardly a receiving threat himself. In fact,Karney has more catches,53 to 40, in fewer seasons.
There was an injury-either calf or knee depending who you read, last year that kept him out for a few games.
Last thing we need is another Kreider; good player rep/broken body.

Karney > Hedgecock
Karney fits the 4 pillars. He is a great teammate as well. He has the desire to perform at his best and is a team first guy.
Karney is a better FB then Hedgecock. Had we kept Hedgecock he would not have made the difference in us being a playoff team, not like Fletcher, Fred Miller, Ryan Tucker, Dre Bly, etc. It was a mistake to let Hedgecock go and he has now shown that he can be a decent FB. Although he did not provide much when he was here, you could see he was making progress and primed for a break out. The only break out we saw was was him breaking out of the Edaward Jones Dome prison. Bottom line Karney will help us forget all about Hedgecock.
I even changed my Avatar prior to hearing we were interested in him. I think with Karney, Brown, and if we keep Pace (1st preference) OR get a 1st Round OT (2nd preference) our running game will be much improved.Last edited by RamsSB99; -03-09-2009 at 06:38 PM.

Re: Weaver too expensive, maybe Karney?
Good point about the receptions. Here's an excerpt from an article when Evans was signed and Karney released:
So, while he isn't so much of a receiving threat, apparently he is more versatile and able to fill in on different roles for the team. Still haven't read anything about Karney having major injury problems. The Saints obviously decided to go for a more versatile, athletic fullback in Evans, who has served as a backup tailback, backup tight end and special teams specialist, in addition to traditional fullback duties in his eight-year career with the Patriots, Dolphins and Seahawks.
