What was the biggest surprise of the first round?

Lots of unexpected or surprising things happened last night in the draft's first round. Which do you think was the most shocking?

Long off the board 3 spots before Floyd???

Never would have picked that one.

    Dolphins trading up for Dion.

Bills trading down for what seemed to be Nassib. But EJ manuel.

And just the whole situation with the amount of OLs gone in top 15.

Justin Pugh as a Top 20 pick.
The number of guards that came off the board this year in the first is mind boggling. 4 Guards in the first 20 picks must be a record.

The Cowboys drafting Travis Frederick, C, Wisconsin. Even Mayock let out a groan. Saying he had this kid as 3rd round talent.

I went with St. Louis trading up for Tavon Austin. Just did not think the Rams would pull that double trade off.

Kyle Long selected by the Bears, was also a shocker for me, talk about a reach.

Minnesota's late trade up, did they call us? Man that was a pile of picks!

Re: What was the biggest surprise of the first round?

Had to be Dallas taking a center. heard that Jerry and son left the war room in a huff after the deal down, so maybe the scouts were not on board. I think Dallas thought Long and Pugh would be on the board at 31 and then panicked when they were not. I like Manuel, maybe as my #1 Qb even, so maybe Buffalo wasn't so dumb, and they have two early second rounders now.

Dallas? Instant fail. They should have just taken Lacey, Ertz, or even Menelik Watson.

I'm going to go with Miami trading up and taking Jordan for the simple fact that Mayock was 1000% sure they would take Lane Johnson.

I went with SF trading up to get Reid. He may have still been there at the end of the first. Also, for what they are going to pay him, plus what they are paying Craig Dahl, I wonder if they could have just retained Dashon Goldson.

I voted the Rams getting Austin, but feel what the Vikings paid the Pats was a big surprise as well.

Any word on if the Vikings contacted us? Would have loved for that trade to have been with us.

That was an easy poll choice for me. Trading up for Austin by far .. Just didn't think we would. Somewhat shocked? Yes! Disappointed? Not a bit .. It's a new era Rams' fans!!

Re: What was the biggest surprise of the first round?

I gotta go with the Rams trading up for Austin.

Picture the scene: Theres me sitting on the sofa, playing fifa with one eye / ear on the laptop next to me showing the draft. 'Up next the Bills are on the clock, oh no wait, theres a trade' ...I wonder who this could be? 'The Rams have traded up, it must be for Tavon Austin' .....Controller flung up in the air, dog is awakened from her deep slumber and readied to attack, neighbours more than likely heard the sound of me jumping up and down and cheering like a little girl!

So yeah, id have to go with that choice....

Re: What was the biggest surprise of the first round?

I was floored when I saw the Rams had traded up to the 8th spot. Floored, but ecstatic, as my dropped jaw turned into a big smile when it was clear what they were doing.

    I'm still smiling.
