The Cowboys pick got me the most as I did not know him! Barret Jones I knew but the Cowboys center I didnot! LOL
As this was not a choice I chose Floyd going 23 when most mocks had him gone by number 5!~

Besides the Rams trading up for Austin (which I voted) I think the biggest surprise for me was the Raiders picking D.J. Hayden. His story is truly remarkable. Essentially, Oakland considered him a top 10 talent but I hadn't heard anything about the kid before the draft started.

Re: What was the biggest surprise of the first round?

To me, it was either Miami trading up for Jordan.

I saw them trading up, but for Fisher if he made it to the third pick. I knew they weren't in love with Lane Johnson, but I never got the vibe that they valued a pass rusher that much. I know now that it was their intention to keep it quiet.

I had the Bills trading out of their spot, and the connection of the Rams to Austin made me immediately think it was us when the news came in. Still a bit of a surprise though, that we pulled the trigger on it.

Richardson to the Jets isn't a sexy pick, but still someone I could see them taking.

Manuel in the second half of the first round had been a trending rumor, and I never really bought into the Bills reaching for Nassib at 8. I supposed I just assumed Smith would already be off the board at that point.

SF trading up for Reid was a bit of a surprise, but they couldn't possibly use all those picks, and a trade up into the middle of the first was a likely scenario.

Pugh and Long were both surprises, but the run on O lineman maybe accelerated those choices.

My strongest disbelief with popular mocks was probably Floyd going 3 to the Raiders. I saw absolutely no indication that he was even being considered with the pick, and he seemed like he got the media bump more than any other prospect this year. He was a fringe first round prospect, and then all of a sudden top 5? If he fell past the Raiders, I had a feeling he would drop quite a bit. I just didn't think he would fall as far as he did. Great pick up for the Vikes though.

Minny's trade up wasn't a huge surpsrise, as it fit into their sort of "all in" strategy.

Only one offensive skill player went off in the first 15 picks. That has never happened before in the history of the draft.
